Just re-watched James Toney vs. Vasiliy Jirov

    I forgot how good this fight was, and the performances from both fighters were top notch, Jirov came into this fight with a very high workrate, in the 2nd round alone he threw 102 punches and landed some very hard punches that Toney was able to take very well. Toney ability to fight off the ropes is something to watch. I know I may take some heat for saying this but I think this fight is an indicator on how a Toney vs. Calzhaghe fantasy match-up at 168 would resemble. Getting back to the Toney/Jirov fight those last 3 rounds were very offensive from both fighter and both showed alot of heart/grit/determination in those last 3 rounds here's the last 3 rounds for everyones enjoyment...

    That was a damn good fight. Definately one of those where you react out loud and talk to yourself.

    for a while i saw this fight all over the place. i must have seen it 4 times in 2 weeks and it never got old.

    A classic fight -- one of the last "Vintage James Toney" performances -- the beginning of the end for a great fighter.

    i cant say much i thought jirov had that fight up to that kd i think he did a great job against toney and he was winning rounds

    I had the fight even going into the 12th, but Jirov punChed himself out, and Toney scored the KNOCKDOWN to secure the W:tired ****ing best fight since 2000, and the best i've ever seen Toney, ****ing should have been a rematch:deal
