I've no problem with that at all. Really now, is a new thread needed when there's one every damn week with the same crap over and over? It was nearly 8 years ago and people still gotta argue and fling insults over it......it was a great fight that left unfinished business most would say, now let's move on!

No need to rewatch it, Lewis won. No controversy, he just opened VITLAYS face up so bad the doctor quit before VITLAY did - and that must have taken some doing.

Rematch wasn't needed, Lewis always did better in rematches, VITLAY as we all know doesn't rematch anyone as most of his opponents are geriatrics the first time he faces them.

It was one hell of a fight. Klitschko won the crowd but Lewis won the fight

Apart from the fact a past prime Lewis won the fight and in the process ****ed up Vitali's face, the way the fight was going Lewis was taking over, Vitali was on ***** street holding on for dear life after a right hand at the end of 6 which saw him stagger from one side of the ring to the other before recieving yet another vicious upper cut on the bell.

Klit was there proving he was gunna outclass Lewis until the headbutt!!!!!!
From round 3 the blood affected Klit and he had problems with vision. Lewis was done on his stool after the 6th and may not have come out for the 7th but the ref called the doctor and stopped the fight without warning.....Vitali became the peoples champ who were there at the stadium, Lewis was booed out of the hall. The setting for a rematch was made but Lewis declined after 18months wait and a futile attempt to get Old Mike back in the ring he retired and never fought again despite hating on the Klitschkos and supporting all their opposition since. Both Klits are untouchable since gaining the belts, and are likely to go down in history as the greatest technicians in boxing. Incidently, Vitali had only one week to prepare for the biggest fight of his boxing career. No wonder Lennox turned down the rematch!! :deal :smoke

Vitali doesnt rematch people because he thoroughly dominates every fighter young and old and there is no reason for a rematch...the reason people wanted a rematch in this case is because the fight was inconclusive as to who was better hence the continued debate 7 years later.(before LL fans or Vit haters chime in with "LL W6" as they spout in every thread i understand he "won" the fight but it didn't answer who was the better fighter) had we seen a rematch we could have avoided all of this but LL ran to retirement....

We should be grateful to both men for this memorable HW war.

Look at Wlads fight, same game plan here, same trainer.

Thompson makes a good and hard fight for the first rounds (Brock two) but in the later rounds the fights always goes for Wlad.

I just love these idiot replies "no need to rewatch it". Are you guys total morons? This is just highly disrespectful of our sport and the fighters who put their ass on the line inside the ring.

Go find another sport if you don't like rewatching memorable boxing wars. Boxing is not for you.

I think this was a fight for the ages in terms of drama if not techical prowness. I've watch this fight about 5-6 times since it took place and as Merchant said during the fight, It's like Ward-Gatti at the highest level. Regarding Lewis I've watched all of his fights and whether or not people think he was in shape for the fight, his timing was definately off for the first couple of rounds and his footwork in general was poor for him, I know that for the simply reason I normally don't pay attention to footwork when it's good. But he simply decided to make it into a brawl and on that level he managed to win.

Anyway, great fight and props to both fighters. Vitali certainly earned my respect during that fight, and Lewis cemented his legacy, and we got to see a terrific fight, so it was one for the ages.

Lewis' greatest fight in my opinion. Fantastic battle.
