Great fight!! I re-watched it myself just recently and the more i see it the more i think how far from his best Lewis was in this fight, whether through being under-prepared, being inactive, age or all three. It was like watching someone else in the ring that night, but hat off to him, he never took a backwards step and ground out the win. The more i see it the more i feel that any superior version of Lewis would have won more convincingly. IMHO Vitali showed he had giant balls and that he belonged at the top level, but i just can't see how he would fare any better against a prepared, more motivated version of Lennox. Not when the man can turn it his way like this while looking like an imposter.
Just watched it again and the more I watch this fight the more I think the judges were blind. It was 3-3 or 4-2 in Lewis's favour at the time of stoppage....he was hitting VITLAY at will and doing serious damage. Don't believe me? Take a look at the post fight pics of both fighters. Lewis would have KO'd VITLAY that night had the doctor not quit on VITLAY's behalf :deal
LL was a smart fighter and you could see it in this fight when he started grinding his "DRED-BUN" into the cut in clinches after opening up his eye.
Lewis was a smart fighter with Steward in his corner like Wlad today. Lewis tires Vitali, Lewis was heavy and Vitali clinches and moves Lewis around. That is the reason Vitali was tired. Vitali has not the one-punch-power to KO Lewis, his punching power is overrated. Vitali has not the KO power from Rahman, this could be the reason Lewis walked Vitali down, never saw this way of fighting in fights from Lewis against dangerous punchers for example Tua. IMO Lewis had KO´ed Vitali in the 7the round. Vitali was badly injured and the fight was stopped at the right time. Late but not too late. Being in front of points means nothing at this time. 6 rounds where boxed, 6 rounds where to go. Thompson makes a very good fight against Wlad, in the earlier rounds he landed more punches on Wlad, but what happened? He was ko´ed in the 11th. Lewis landed many punches on Vitali, the cuts where the result from punches. The fight was stopped because of injuries caused by the fists of the Champion. Nothing wrong with that.
I was desperate at the time for Lewis to get pasted, as I detested him as a fan of Tyson, and thought for 2 or 3 rounds he was going to get it. Whether the cut made Vitali easier to hit, or Lewis just warmed to the task or what I dont know, but Lewis was taking over, and I felt flat by the end of round 6 as I thought Vitali was enroute to getting stopped genuinely, and then the doc stopped it anyway. Great back and forth fight, best possibly even since the Bowe/Holyfield fights IMO.
Post fight pics have nothing to do with scorecards moron. The only person blind here is you, but go ahead and keep re-watching the fight and posting more bull**** nonsense to further your ridiculous agenda.
Why don't you go watch it, and do us all a favor and come back here and start another thread telling us what you saw.......apparently it never gets old.
