no he did that because shane is a former user and he needed to save face because everyone blamed him for the collapse of the fight.

floyd did well after the second round but shane didn't do squat diddly for the rest of the fight. he didn't even try. he was breathing heavily after 5 rounds and scared to pull the trigger. shane looked like a fighter thats been out of the ring for over a year.

I think Pacquiao's gonna try to swarm Mayweather like Hatton did, and he's gonna get his ass chewed up and spit out, cause he sure as hell can't box.

Good post. I more or less agree with most of this, though I wouldn't recommend Mayweather to really "train for power". I'd say just do what he does. The power he has is sufficient to get the job done. I wouldn't encourage him to "sit down" on his punches more than he does naturally when he feels an opportunity.

While you're right that Mayweather is purely "faster" than Pacquiao on a one-punch basis, Pacquiao is the better combination puncher at this stage in their respective careers. Floyd's given up combination punching between two to four shots at a time. It's more, "bang, wait, bang bang, wait, wait, wait, bang", type action... compared to Lampley's rendition of Pacquiao's punching rhythm.

Anyhow, I respect your post and the perceptive remarks you made.

    Decent post.

    Some disagreements.

Floyd's chin is not great. It's good, and he has good recuperative powers, IF He's allowed time clear his head.

( I believe if Oscar had managed to hurt him to the degree Shane did, there is a high probability he would have finished him in the second).

Pac's chin is a little better than Floyd's, but again, untested at the extreme levels. While Floyd doesn't have huge single shot power, he has decent pop, and he's accurate. After a few shots of the type he landed on Shane, Pac might get shaken and/or gunshy.

    Speed.

Floyd has a very slight edge. With single shots, he is very fast and accurate. With combinations, Pac is faster, and while less accurate, his higher volume will ensure that something will get through.

Conditioning. Not much to separate them here. They're both in supreme shape. One slight point: Floyd never tires but he never expends too much energy. His style is economical.

Pac never tires either and he fights with a higher rate of intensity.

If he's able to do that against Floyd (far from certain), it might separate them a little in the stamina department.

Ring genarship. Advantage Floyd, but by 101:100. Pac is deceptively adept at dictating the flow of the fight. Floyd is more obvious about doing the same thing.

IMO, Floyd has most of the tangible advantages here, even if his edge is razor thin.

The one intangible area where Pac has the edge is PHIB (Passsion, Intensity, heart,Balls).

IMO, the testing controversy has been manufactured by Floyd (after poor advice from his dad) because, despite being the slightly better fighter, at some level, he fears Pac.

And if he still fears him when they meet, that psychological edge might offset Floyd's tangible advantages.

I believe Pac is just a tad stronger mentally. I haven't made a pick yet, as it would be for Floyd if I picked right now. And I'm not going to give it too much thought till it actually happens.

Right now, no one is a better boxer than Floyd.

So if I do pick for Pac, it will be on the basis of his superior mental conditioning.

Some people are amazing with how much they reach for. Mosley no longer "hits that hard" just because he couldn't KO Floyd? Pac has moar dedication to the sport of boxing than Floyd, even though Floyd doesn't even touch alcohol and he probably learned how to punch right after taking his first step? Who's the one seriously considering a new career this month if they win elections?:patsch

Floyd broke the guy mentally. He shut him down and reduced him to that level by taking away his weapons.

how is this? INSIDE the ring...Floyd mentally is tougher than anyone...the man just doenst break in the ring...but i mean i could be wrong what makes you think Pac is superior in this attribute? I mean i would go for equal...cant really say either is superior.

Anyways...i pick Floyd...simply because i still feel no one right now adapts to other fighters and takes away other fighters advantages better than Floyd...what i do know is Floyd can and has used several different styles.....i consider him more versatile...while Pac you know what your going to get...PROBLEM IS...there arent many if any who can deal with it or adjust to it...or have the tools to adjust to it and deal with it...Floyd does...and Manny dont have the tools to deal with Floyd....Pac is going to have HELL just getting in RANGE of Floyd without getting tagged....close early maybe 1-4...afterwards...Floyd punishes the guy.
