I like this fight because it just made Roach worker harder on Pac's right and made Pac a greater all-around fighter because of this loss
It took that loss for him to see he needed to add more to his boxing game. Pac wouldnt be the same fighter today if he won that fight! Morales stood in there like a hyhenna in a lion fight!
exactly! not only that.....but i do remember morales landing a couple of big shots even as a southpaw!!
Yes, the commentators were on PAC's nuts that round, and Morales landed some clean shots in the Southpaw position, PAC only got in one big shot.. Morales landed several I saw it on HBOHD just a couple days ago... it was so bad ass. Specially when he made fun of pacs hands and then proceeded to push him back to the ropes after making fun of him that was great... I wish the 126 Version of Morales faced him, but oh well. Pac showed up at the right time.
We keep on getting this kind of shite so often that we begin to wonder if odh, hatton, cotto, clottey, and tony were just punching bags when they fought pacquiao. Then I suddenly found myself wondering, what are erik morales's or marquez's chances against odh at 145? or hatton at 140? or cotto at 145? clottey at 147? or margarito at 150? If pac can beat these guys, so can they right? :think
Do you not realise the irony of your comment given the avatar you have. atschatschatsch Anyways, it was an amazing performance by Morales. Pac/Morales/Barrera/JMM really were the fab four of this era.
Not the dlh we saw plus roach saw oscar getting tagged by a small p. rican when he trained him for mayweather not to mention that "he couldn't pull the trig" and I don't belive cotto boxes at the jmm em level I say it as a huge cotto fan. And oscar vs forbes....do I really need to go onto details?
The greatest thing is Round 12 like others had said... Erik turning southpaw and taking some bombs wanting a war!!! Fair play Pac won 2/3 but Erik wasn't the same fighter. Still credit where it's due those are victorys to be proud of, 3 not so much but fair enough I understand winning a rematch and taking a rubber just to clear all doubt, no way would Erik of not wanted a 3rd as well. I would of liked to see Pac of 2/3 vs Morales of 1 even if that was Morales last great performance for me.
and Morales. maybe gloves and socks don't make Pacquiao not Pacquiao, but you can't take away the fact that Pacquiao gave Morales a war and was disadvantaged by the fact that it was his first fight ever at Jr Lightweight (Morales really took Pac's best punches well and seemed the stronger man) and also by the fact that he got cut by a headbutt over the eye in the 5th round (a lot of fighters would have found a way to quit). Morales deserves full credit regardless of Pac's condition, and Pac deserves full credit for knocking out Morales twice regardless of Morales' condition. Let's be real here moving up in weight is always used as a valid reason for a fighter being at a disadvantage, as are unlucky cuts that affect a fighter's vision. Look at he Cotto-Clottey fight for example. Someone made a thread asking if the cut had an impact on the way the fight played out and an overwhelming majority voted yes. Pac is not impervious to that.
You could say Morales caught Pac at the right time in the first fight. Physically undersized, but technically not yet at his peak. at 126 Pac would have beaten Morales.
