As a person he is utterly bankrupt, but as a promotor and businessman, you got to give him huge acclaim.

I still hate his guts regardless.

Pretty detailed. The guy is an out and out scumbag blatantly robbing fighters in all kinds of ways (accounting tricks, creaming all kinds of King expenses from the fighters gross, impressing people with (short) cash not cheques)

It's terrific stuff, well worth a read

I still don't know what the problem is, do you know who actually runs your country?
I ain't talking about the president.

I wasn't trying to be offensive to your country or yourself, merely stating that a lot of the people at the top are corrupt same as my country and most others.

    Peace.

I hated what he did to Ali, Page, Witherspoon, Dokes, Green, and Holmes, but the man could promote.

Boxing would have been better with out King imo.

Ali and Foreman were still going to get it on with or with out King. I think Arum was going to be the host in this other world if King was in jail.

I dont think the alpha titles would have had a strong hold on boxing today, if King was not there.

I read years ago that Witherspoon walked away with $60,000 out of a $1.2 million purse (was it the Bonecrusher fight?)

Witherspoon once said of King when asked why he went back to him..."because I was a damsel in distress" :blood:D

Don was brilliant at his self proclaimed 'trickerations'

the scary thing now is that young* promoters do these moves as the norm...and in blatant view. i.e. duddy's mangament, ohners match tampering, saurland washing thier hands of rola el habibi, 'allegedly's' merry go round.

why ar epromoters getting more cash than the fighters...and thats considered the norm. it's crazy. i directly blame don kings shadeyness and ways of getting round the rules laid down as now gospal...almost impossible it seems for guys to get into promoting, especially for the long run. completely above board. check this article on a well promoted average sized boxing event.

it's strange because not long ago king had lost all his power over heavywieght and had only a handful of fighters who where draws but not that special i.e. mayorga, spinks etc.

but the witherspoon and terry norris lawsuits really pulled the carpet.
