    He was Barney Ross' policeman, (same stable ) and you had to beat Davey to get a crack at Barneys crown.
    The great Sugar Ray Robinson was scheduled to fight Davey in Chicago late 1941, but, back out, having Bob Montgomery as his substitute. Davey was considered too dangerous, in his last two fights he cut his foes eyes, as he was sharp shooter, and it became a serious matter whether to take a chance of not suffering a cut.
