enough to take advantage while the iron is hot. The writer made a good example of Rampage..a very chrismatic guy just basically disappearing for over 6 months now w/o a fight. Then he'll have this gig at TUF to boot.

I mean if you want to be more mainstream..the stars have to be seen..Guys like Chuck should fight at least 3 times a year.. Tito as much as hes shot is still a draw..showcase him before his contract run out.

Lets be honest..some of these guys fight and are basically unscathed..its not like everyone takes a beating..they should fight as often as possible...especially if youre one of the 10k per fight guy..You need to earn dough. Wheres Karo?? Shogun might end up fighting once in the UFC.

Ill put it this way..If Pacquiao can fight 3 times a year and has more money than some of them combined..Why cant they?..or is it the UFC...because if it is..the UFC is holding them back

Oh for ****s sake, Jake Rossen's articles are all the same: "everything the UFC has done or ever will do, is terrible"

You can only fight legit top competition so often before you completely break down.

I agree. It says last year UFC ran 19 event I think the best way to solve this problem is up the amount of events to 24. 1 UFC PPV montly and 1 Spike show montly cause even though you mention the big names not fighting what about a guy like Nate Quarry who fights in September and wont fight till a few weeks from now thats just one example but I could go on.

I love the UFC...I dont even know this guy(writer) but Rampage cant fight once a year..He just cant...Stars have to be showcased as often as possible...Im talking about 3 fight a year not 10..Its really that simple. Soon it'll be "whos that black guy again who Koed Chuck?"

Forget top opposition..Just fight and be seen..knock a few cans out..people will love it

Yes and Nate is a 10k per fight guy..Let them fight..I am sure that with the exception of a very few fighters (BJ, Randy) most want to fight more often...First Money, next exposure..on TV!!! I mean sometime you never know when you'll be back on the main card? What the shelf life of these fighters?? 4 years??

There is a few reasons why guys don't fight as much as they should....Rampage was doing the TUF show...so that answers that, Shogun had a knee injury, and why would they showcase Tito when he is leaving after this fight? Rampage will have more publicity when the show airs and I guarantee that will be a huge draw....Griffin vs Rampage. Karo is still in contendor mode he can never put together enough big wins to earn a title shot and has trouble finishing fights so he isn't that popular as he once was anyhow.

But I agree I think guys could easily fight 3 times a year. I think 1 prob is the UFC wants to make the most of every match, in other words no wasted fights because they only have guys usually signed to a 4 fight deal so match making is important. Unlike boxing where they fight cans for there first 20 fights or so.

...And there are already a few name guys who they know almost for certain are not re-signing. If the vast majority of their fighters had it their way it would be just like boxing.

On the other hand... if they fight ALL THE TIME the fights start to lose a bit of luster.

By the time Rampage/Forrest comes around.. it will be a huge fight.

Sometimes the UFC suffers from poor matchmaking. They often assemble cards with uninteresting fights as the main event - then for other events they'll stack the card from bottom to the top. There is just so much talent in the UFC - that they are having a hard time keeping everyone active. But they are also constantly making new stars through the exposure on TUF. New stars are important to keep the sport alive and interesting.

Theres something around 200 fighters under contract, if you can find a way for all of them to fight 5 times a year, everybody is listening.

The UFC seems to be doing something right. Rampage hasn't fought, because he has been taping the TUF series... which will give him much more face time than any of his fights. The coaches on the tough show become as popular as you can become in the UFC. Don't you know how many viewers that show gets?

He doesn't have the "TUF gig" now, he has already done it. Right now he is in training for his fight which will take place at the end of the season. That show isn't live, it is taped, and all of the fights outside of the finale are already over.

its just sad to know that shogun is sidelined because of the injury. Im really dying to see him bounce back from that griffin loss.. he's such a good fighter, IMO
