Since it's Martinez calling out the smaller man in Cotto for the payday, I don't mind the catch weight this time. This is when they are supposed to be used. When a champ like Martinez who has no big money options at the time decides to offer a smaller fighter a shot at his title b/c he knows the smaller fighter can give him a payday. So inturn to make the fight more compeitive they do a catch weight.

This is not Pac or PBF abusing their $$$ power.

If Cotto takes this fight, it'll say a lot about him. He could go beat up damaged goods like marg for a guaranteed fatAZZ paycheck, but he chooses this instead.

March is so soon. He needs a tune-up fight to see if that shoulder is in good conditon before taking on someone like Martinez.

Unify against Bundrage in March and fight Martinez in July. Plenty of time for promotion and hype. The fans are guranteed to win.

this is a really tough fight to call, specially with this version of cotto. never really know what your gonna get. but one thing i will say....if this happens, it will definitely be worth watching and exciting. IMO, i think with ES in cottos corner that he has a better chance than people give him credit for.

in cotto's case i believe he is doing it more for legacy than money. He is not broke as he has over 70 million dollars and he owns a ton of businesses here in PR.

good... given how successful Cotto is with southpaws (Zab and quintana). He should do well. Martinez is very good and talented but as far as offense he's not a Pacquiao. Cotto's jab will be a difficult obstacle for Martinez

I wouldn't call his performance against Zab masterful. He had to desperately resort to lowblows to stop the momentum Zab was having.

I would love for this fight to happen. We all know Cotto is a warrior in the ring and fights like this will definitely put him in the books.
