And this is why Cotto is my favorite fighter. However, he will get KO'd by MArtinez if he lands one of those left hands....and with cotto's somewhat leaky defense I can easily see it happening.

Good move on the part of Cotto...Martinez has benefited from three of the most opportune fights in capping off a decade of fighting straight bums. Prior to PW 1, he fought Cintron who had been demoralized twice by Margo. Years earlier, he fought Margo, both were just starting out and Margo then already had three losses. PW had benefited from this aura of invincibility because of his physical dimensions, jumping in the ranking because, ironically, being avoided reinforced that aura and protected him from exposure. Pavlik was battling demons and addiction for four years after unexpectedly beating Taylor who was already on the decline then and subsequently had to drop out of the super six for his own protection.

The gap between the elite (the cottos, mosleys, margos, clotteys, and of course Pac/Floyd) and the rest (yuri, pavlik, pw, cintron, and yes martinez) is substantial...cursory look at the first round between cotto v foreman, just one stiff right jab wobbled the bigger fighter who was undefeated and did well against a decent santos. The opportunity Martinez present for cotto/margo/pac and floyd is ripe for the taking. If I were cotto, I'd rather fight martinez than margo, same for margo...if I were floyd, I'd jump at the chance to school martinez and keep myself relevant vis a vis pac.

Oh man, I feel Cotto might be too brave for his own good. I will be supporting him to win this fight like I always do, but its going to be a very, very tough task. In fact, this will probably be the second or third hardest fight, against the second or third best opponent, hes ever had. Martinez has the power to hurt Miguel and the speed to catch him.... I think Cotto will understandably be the underdog in this one, and maybe heavily. Whats weird is he could have probably put the nails in the coffin on Margarito and still made bank and had a big HBO fight, and that would have without a doubt been a much safer route.

    Respect.

    WAR COTTO

i will be rooting for Miguel like always but hes got his work cut out fo him in this one. Yet this is why Cotto is unique. The quiet professional who takes on anyone.

We need more guys like Cotto.

Cotto's balls may be too big for his own good. He gonna get beat again in this fight.

i dont have to state something so obvious, go figure it yourself what is so wrong about your post.

anyway, this fight aint right. people around Cotto should think this over multiple times. he aint big enough for 154, much more at 160. if a midgets punches where too much for him, surely a MW with a punch will bust him up even more. Cotto doesnt deserve to be feed to Martinez. Marquez coach cried foul when GBP tried to fit Marquez against Khan, and this is so much worse than that. Margarito is right for him, financially and to settle the "loaded gloves" allegation.

This fight must happen. It's clearly the best option for both guys and not to mention will be a really close fight. Either guy has a chance to win but I'd definitely have to go with Martinez.

:huhI DON'T know Leon, but Cotto has a lot of $$$ already and as far as taking risks, Martinez is not the 1 taking a risk in here...
Correct... so Cotto is definitely not the 1 willing to take a bigger risk just for money.... he is the definition of a real warrior!!
C'mon Leon, you know better than that. You know Zab wasn't gonna win that match!!!!!!!!!!! Not then, not now, not ever!

If this was a peak Cotto, at 147, against Martinez, at 147.... I think this would be one hell of a good fight, but as it is.... this is a huge, huge task for Miguel.
