I'm gonna say yes. I feel the Gatti would've most likely secured a close decision, maybe even a late knockdown or Tko. I had the fight even (wouldn't argue Angel up by a point) at the time of stoppage. Thoughts on this one?
Gatti was on his way to stopping Angel those body shots had just caught up to Manfredy at the time it was stopped... Nasty cut though but I dont know whats nastier, the cut, or the way Gatti was floored..
Yea that made this one all the more impressive. Vintage Gatti, in getting put on the deck, hard, and getting back up, and was dangerous right away. I think Gatti took the next two rounds, and was already back ahead on my card by the 6th.
Thats exactly what he did, smart brawler... if that makes sense... Loved the fight with Rodriguez... So many fights of his not to like, I kinda always wanted to see Gatti vs Augustus... I think that fight would have played out very well...
this is an all-time underrated fight. i won't go as far as to say gatti was going to win but he was totally back in the fight. in '98 gatti went 0-3 losing to manfredy and robinson twice. i wouldn't have had a problem with him being named fighter of the year. incredible fights.
Gatti is one of the few fighters in boxing history, who could lose his fights, and still have people wanting to give him more credit than some of those who beat him. It's hard not to when a fighter loses a fight he is alive and well in, due to a cut. But I have no hard feelings, this is boxing, and rules are rules.
