On Saturday night a 43 year old man fighting 2 divisions above his best weight will show the whole boxing world that Joe Calzaghe is one of the most over-rated fighters of this generation.

Its posts like this that make people think all Hopkins fans are like this....please dont post anything like this again.

Hopkins greatest asset is his age and longevity. Its the reason we love him...cant be the reason we give why he loses (if he loses).

:good knocked that one out of the park, chief. Looking at how Tarver just performed against Woods has to say something about what Bernard's still got left in the tank. He may be 43, but he's going to look years younger in this fight, in no small part due to hiring Mackie Shilstone's creepy ass. Even though I'm picking Joe to win, I'm not going to dis Hopkins by pretending he's your average 43 year old fighter.

I'm pulling for Bernard, I'll have money on Bernard in all likelihood, but I promised Calzaghe fans months ago I wouldn't support this logic.

You think Joe hasn't faded any from where HE was in his twenties and early thirties? Neither man is in his prime here, by any stretch. But at the same time, Hopkins is no ordinary 43, and Joe is no ordinary 35. If they were, they'd be done already with L's to younger men.

How about we let the fight play out before we start diminishing what wins or losses "mean" to either fighter? In any case, if either one dominates the other, of course it's historically significant.

I have a crazy feeling that bumdujour is not a Hopkins fan. No Hopkins fan uses his age in a negative way.

Hopkins is too old to fight a guy with Calzaghe's stamina.

I for one will not give Joe much credit for doing away with BHop, something the very average Taylor already accomplished (though only by 2 rounds or so).

The fact remains Hopkins is really 43 years old.

Nard should however be commended for letting Calzaghe be in the same ring with him to legitimize what has been a questionable career. Let's face it, Hopkins has nothing left to prove while JC's status as either great or good is riding on this fight.
