Floyd was had his most effective moments at long range, using his speed. He rarely fought Maidana in the pocket and rarely traded with him. He did throw some shots when Maidana was attacking him on the ropes, but mostly just covered up.

Mayweather stood his ground and traded vs Cotto, you're saying he just basically covered up vs Maidana?

Did Maidana take the fight to Floyd?

The reason Maidana had sucess vs Broner was because he stayed put and just wanted to roll Maidana's punches without using lateral movement.
Did Floyd fight a similar fight and thus why Maidana had sucess against him?

A faded Morales gave Danny Garcia a tough fight in their first one. Styles make fights, and Maidana was clearly more motivated to fight Floyd.

When Maidana was attacking, Floyd didn't stay put. He moved back and had his back against the ropes. This happened very often in the first 6 rounds. And once he was there, he covered up most of the time.

His most effective rounds were after round 6, when Maidana started to tired a bit and fought at a slower pace. This basically gave Floyd the opportunity to potshot him from the outside. Maidana picked it up during round 8 and had Floyd covering up for most of the round. Maidana also had a decent round 12 because of his aggression.

I'm going to have to watch this fight to know for sure, but I've always said that a physically strong workrate fighter that could take a punch would give Mayweather major problems.
I always have been of the opinion that Margarito would beat Mayweather simply because Mayweather does'nt have the workrate or firepower to fend him off.

Margarito's workrate is much higher than Maidana's, he takes a better punch, and he's tireless as he never faded late in fights when he was at his best.
I dont think now that *****'s can laugh off the opinion that Margarito could beat Mayweather.

You cant sit back and go to the ropes vs Margarito and not pay the price.
