I don't remember my exact round by round scorecard, but I had Peterson by 1 or 2 points. There were a couple of difficult rounds to score and I could see a reasonable case for Khan by a point. Khan will need a referee who lets him clinch, push, and generally avoid in-fighting to beat Peterson in the rematch. Peterson has shown the ability to adjust and handle a dogfight; Khan hasn't.
You can have it 9-9, but only after a point deduction for a foul (NOT a knockdown). This content is protected
The night of the fight I had the exact same card as u. On rewatching it, I had round 10 (I think) reversed, so 113-112 Peterson.
To me, Khan won if he did not get deductions. With the deductions, Peterson wins narrowly. Pretty much how the judges had it.
Khan needs 1 of 2 things Emmanuel Steward in his corner or Joe Cortez as the ref for every future fight
You really think his punch resistance is that bad? He took a lot of shots to the head and body from Maidana and stayed on his feet. Peterson is not a puncher, but still, he's not a featherfist either, and he hit Khan with a lot of hard shots upstairs and downstairs. I don't think Khan was ever seriously hurt, nor was he totally worn down and weakened from the body attack. He still had a pretty good final round.
Agreed. it has nothing to do with his punch resistance. Khan just plain can't fight on the inside, its more Roach's fault as a trainer than anything... even Manny is pretty bad when in the pocket. Khan's punch resistance is perfectly fine now. Although with the way he takes breaks on the ropes like that, sooner or later it might catch up to him.
