The narrative of Briggs being shot just isn't true. Briggs is Briggs. There wasn't any obvious difference from the 2006-2007 version who upset White Wolf and dropped the belt to Ibragimov 3 years prior. Was it a great fight? No of course not, pretty underwhelming defense to be frank. Briggs certainly wasn't prime either but he wasn't far removed from the form that saw him snatch up a belt in the open landscape a few years back. Not like guys were lining up to fight the Klitschkos during that period anyways.
