Got an old school lesson from hopkins

 

Jones was so shot to bits by the time Joe faced him, I would be embarrassed to tout that as a great win. Hopkins was old, but Jones was getting knocked out by any decent foe he faced by that time.

Joe has the one good win against Kessler, but his KOs are mostly a joke.

Contrary to popular belief Jones had been slowing down for years prior to losing to tarver.
He just hadn't fought anyone good enough(since he started declining) to expose it until tarver

But if you look closely you can see he spends more and more time on the ropes, throws less punches and is less agressive in finishing guys off starting around 2000.



Personally I'm not sure clazaghe threw most of his shots anywhere near hard enough to count them as "clean effective punches".
To have an old Jones up against the ropes for 12 rounds and not atleast put him down is disgraceful

 

Butt hurt Hopkins fans still harping on about his age it seems.

Well...

1. Hopkins should never have bottled the fight when it was first talked about and signed up years earlier.

2. Hopkins was top 2/3 P4P at the time.

3. Hopkins still went on to have a very good career at 175.

 

Joe was past his prime in his late 30’s as well, people forget this. He retired soon after schooling Jones and Hopkins, he didnt have much left in the tank, Hopkins and Roy did though, which is why these wins for Joe mean a lot.

 

Plus I think both Hopkins an Jones where massive PED abusers, this should also be taken into account.

Great fighter but spent far too much time fighting poor opposition. Wasted his best years in my opinion. Such a shame.

Great record on paper and two absolutely fantastic nights against Lacy and Kessler but not too much more. As a fan who waited for genuinely about a decade for him to break through it was so disappointing that after Lacy he went for Bika and Manfredo. Such a waste of time.

 

I was supporting joe by saying it was still a win however marginal it was, aginast his mid40s (and arguably joes best ever) opponent... the OP said it was a loss.

your thought should be taken into account?why not facts instead like everyone else. Heres a fact, jones was caught abusing once - say that, pal, dont use fake opinions.
