You think Lara fought like Mayweather against Canelo? You blind? You better watch that Mayweather fight again. It was one of his better fights.
Watching it live I thought Canelo edged it. Second time I scored it for Lara. Maybe I need to go for a third. That said, even when I scored it for Lara it wasn't the wide 'schooling' I've seen claimed, though it did highlight some of Canelo's weaknesses
Lara goes all in in the first few rounds, moves and runs around like he has energy to do that for days. Then he inevitably slows down in the 2nd part of the fight and cruises to the end of the fight. With this is sort of fighting style he's basically relying on judges to give him at least half of the close rounds which may or may not happen. If you leave it in the hands of the judges you have no right to scream robbery IMO.
Lara and Mayweather don't fight alike, Lara stays on the outside and uses more of the ring. Mayweather stands in the pocket and slips more, unless we're referring to specific rounds in his later fights where he indeed ran. And Lara probably won, I didn't score properly at first, drinking
It was another terrible decision. Lara won 8rds. It was plain to see after 4rds Alvarez's corner telling him to go to the body which he did but that only lasted a couple of rds and he didn't pick up the body attack again until the last couple. You wouldn't have to remove your shoes and socks to count the number of shots he landed to Lara's head in the entire fight. It has always been the way with mexican greats to be troubled by slick, quick handed fighters who can move (with the exception of Lopez). You guys that b!tch about him ''running'' need to understand the idea of boxing is to fight the fight that suits your style and prevent the other guy from fighting his fight. It's called boxing. Hit and not be hit. If he had slugged it out with slow footed Alvarez he would have surely been beaten. As much as I have ended up disliking FM with his cherry picking, roid use and the way he has conducted his career I have never complained about the style he chose to win fights. It's called smart boxing. To me this concept of ''running'' is a bone headed attitude of moronic blood lusting fans of what I call ''boxing''.
That was one of the most frustrating fights I've ever seen. I don't understand why nobody bothered to tell Lara that he needed to throw more. He wasn't fighting in a vacuum, isolated on the moon, with judges hired from neutral galaxies. He was fighting one of the biggest names in the sport. Lara was the guest star on the Canelo show. They weren't going to give him rounds that close against the house fighter, and even if he'd won a decision fighting like that, no new fans were going to sign on for a spin-off of the Lara show. Had he just thrown some more punches, he'd have had it. He was only 1 round away on one judge's card from having the decision become a draw, and two away from winning the damn thing. He legit got robbed vs Williams, but this was him giving the win to Canelo on a silver platter.
Former two division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero is one of many people who believe that Lara did enough to deserve a win over Canelo last Saturday night. “I watched @Laraboxing fight in Mexico yesterday and mostly everyone including me thought he beat Canelo. #Boxing #Rematch,” Guerrero said on his twitter
fair play rewatching that awfulness. Dont think i could bring myself to do it. I remember it being very close and had so many rounds i didnt know who to give them to i felt like any of the 3 possible results were fine by me.
Isal said if 3G fought Liam Smith, that would be his best opponent to date!! And of course, Isal said it right after Alvarez beat Smith. That's Isal for you....ESB's golden girl.
