Cotto was fading. It doesn't matter that Cotto was still winning the later rounds, Tony was landing more often, his punches were making an impact and the pressure was being felt by Cotto.

I don't know what anyone who thinks Margarito was doing any better was watching. Cotto basically won every round. A desperate Margarito was forced to bring even more pressure because he knew the docs were going to be stopping that fight soon. He upped the pressure and simply ate more shots because of it.

Nothing like the first fight where, regardless of whether you give Margarito the benefit of the doubt or not, he was doing much more damage than he did at any point in the 2nd fight. Thinking that the 2 fights were at all similar......That's just wishful thinking.

Prove that statement or apologise. It would have been a repeat of first fight except that crooked doc stopped the fight to save Cotto QUITTING AGAIN!!! not to save Margarito's eye:patsch:fire

You must be kidding. Margarito might have started coming on a bit but his eye was in bad shape. It would have been irresponsible to allow that to continue. Especially considering that his eye was previously obliterated by Pacquiao.

I bet you think that Vitali should have been allowed to continue against Lewis as well huh? :patsch

Nonsense. If that was at all the case they would have just stopped it. Not given Margarito a warning and a chance to go out and KO the guy they were supposedly protecting.

Cotto had figured out how to handle Margarito and how not to engage him on his terms. The fights were nothing alike. Margarito was getting battered. He had almost no success.

Absolutely not Vitali was beaten .

As for Tony's eye it was closed from round 2 onwards he couldn't see properly, Why didn't the Doc stop it then ??? No he waited until Cotto started fading & Tony was coming on That was stopped to save Cotto not Tony. I wonder if that doc was the same guy that examined Mago & said he was OK ?????

Vitali against Lennox had, no exaggeration, 100 times more success in almost half the rounds than Margarito did in his Cotto rematch.

Well if you think the doctor was corrupt, paid off, and cheated Margarito out of a win then you probably think the doctor should have changed Mago vs. Perez to a 12 rounder after the 10th just to give Mago a chance to turn things around.

I suppose they should have stopped it earlier then? Even allowing that fight in the first place seemed like a bad idea to me

You uneducated clowns that keep trying to diss and insult Tony Margarito are the trolls Not one person not even the CSAC have been able to prove Tony Margarito did anything wrong. Ive followed Tony's career & know he beat Cotto LEGITIMATELY but was robbed of the chance to repeat. He was blind in one eye from round two why did that doc take so long to stop the fight??? Doc wasn't concerned about Tony'e eye till he started coming back at Cotto a la fight one:patsch

Exactly. The NYAC didn't even want to sanction that fight. I knew the ref was going to stop that fight if any damage was done to Margarito's eye. It would have been a public relations disaster if Margarito lost the use of that eye after the fight.

When the smoke clears the fact remains Cotto couldn't put away a one eyed fighter he had to rely on the doc to get the win for him. Remember he couldn't put away a one legged Yuri Foreman even tho Mercante jr refused to let Foreman retire.
Cotto is ok when winning but when he gets hurts he QUITS!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now you wish the fight was stopped in round 2?

Or do you wish the fight wasn't stopped at all?

    I don't get it....

Oh, and you're the only person alive who feels that way about Margarito. Do some research. Javier Capetillo admitted in court that he put the wrong inserts in his glove, claiming by accident. So, unless you think Capetillo was lying in court, you have no grounds whatsoever for your opinion, you bias fanboy. Wake up.
