I still think Oscar didn't do enough to win the fight. Regardless of the 12 round knockdown, Quartey hurt Oscar more times than he was, and Ike practically dominated most of the fight with his jab and right hand. Oscar stole some rounds that were likely handed to him when he flurried his punches in the start and end of the rounds. Quartey dominated this fight after both men exchanged knockdowns in the 6th round. Just my opinion.
Quartey should've gotten the decision. Yes, Oscar finished strong. What about the rest of the fight? He largely spent it standing and staring at Ike, doing nothing. Ike was doing much either, but he was doing more than Oscar, and enough to win 7 rounds. It wasn't a terribly hard fight to score either. Most of the fight was dull, but the 6th round was very good and the finale was exciting.
No it isn't, I have that opinion as well. :good It was a close fight, but every time I've watched it, I scored it either a draw or a slight win for Quartey. I don't think I've ever scored it for Oscar.
I thought Oscar just pulled it out in the last round but that it would've been fair either way, ODLH, IQ or a draw. That was a very evenly-matched fight at that point of both of their careers.
I thought oscar deserved it but it was a poor performance by him. This fight really was quarteys for the taken
Exactly, but who are you siding with? I had Quartey winning by three points bare minimum. George Foreman does make a valid point in the commentary such that a challenger doesn't look favourable to the judges by getting knocked down in the last round, but even if the round was scored 10-7, Quartey still wins clearly.
No way Oscar won more than 5 rounds, the sweet irony is that 1 of the judges that had Oscar beating Quartey has Trinidad beating him
