It really is about level of competition. Sure Bute LOOKS like a great boxer, but the fact that he couldn't nuetralize Froch's attack says otherwise. Bute looks like a guy who can mimick a great boxer, but it doesn't look like he understands the practical implications of those movements. It's kind of like Adrian Broner. Sure he moves like Floyd, but you can tell he doesn't have the same understanding of angles that Floyd has and has proven to have against much better competition.

Despite the fact that you called me a ****ing imbecile yesterday i have to admit i think you make a fair point here. I think he has a better chance against ward than in a rematch against froch too. Bute is always going to struggle against strong rugged types who keep coming and can fluster him. Ward would fight a fight which would be more likely to allow bute to make use of his own strengths. It would be a cautious boxing match. I still think ward would find a way to get the job done but nonetheless bute would come out with a lot of credit from a competitive loss to ward. While if he gets smashed to bits by froch again where can he go?

And Andre Ward has 21,823 likes. Some boxers are just not appreciated enough.
Just saying if Bute wouldn't have so many he wouldn't be considered a good boxer.

At this particularly stage Ward isn't interested to fight with Bute. Even if Bute K.O's Grachev I don't think Ward would be interested about a fight with Bute. But if Bute declines the rematch with Froch and goes up at LHW and takes a good name like Dawson or Hopkins and beat him then he could have a good chance to fight Ward at LHW , supposedly Ward goes up at LHW soon !

Maybe Froch isn't good for Bute in terms of style. Maybe Bute would have good performances against guys like Ward, Dawson or Hopkins , fighters that aren't offensive big punchers !

It wouldn't be a bad idea , lets say if Bute beats Grachev pretty soundly, to move up at LHW and take Dawson and avoid the rematch with Froch ! Dawson isn't a good draw and besides that he comes after a badly loss too, plus he isn't an aggressive big puncher ! I mean Bute would have better chances to win against Dawson at LHW than to win the rematch against Froch at SMW , seriously speaking.

I agree with the fact that Bute is gonna have his trouble vs the rugged durable power punchers of the division, but not ALL of them though.
As far as stand up fighters go, and Bute "beating" them, it's fair to say that the level of that guy has more to do with his winning or losing than their style.
Froch just happens to be a world level fighter with that style. Not comparing Andrade or Berrio to Froch, but their similar styles beg the comparison and how Bute literally destroyed the both of em.

I think the first Froch fight boiled down to confidence. Bute was "OVER"confident before he arrived in the UK. And the time he spent there was essentially in isolation. Sure he was preparing physically for the bout, but the look in his eyes as he walked through that UK crowd and into the ring was one we'd never seen before. It was as if he was FORGING a smile. Forging confidence, yet when the bell rang and bout began, the ire in Froch's eyes was more than Bute could handle. He completely abandoned his technique and looked to slug it out with this generations toughest slugger. Bad idea, OBVIOUSLY.

However, a Ward fight would definitely serve him better. BUT.....Ward knows this as well. He doesnt have the kind of power or aura that Froch has. The fans in Oakland or anywhere in the US where Ward will raise a crowd, will be vocal on his behalf, but they won't penetrate the soul of Bute in the manner in which the UK crowd did. Nor would Ward's prefight staredown cut through Bute's heart like Froch's did.

In a Bute Ward fight, it'd be all about who is the better fighter. The skills and power would decide the fight. While some here slurp Ward semen, other Bute's, there are still a few fight fans who could see a good fight here.

Me, I see Ward as the best infighter in the division. He fights inside soas not to take shots at range, while racking up points on the inside. However, Bute has a few tricks up his sleeve inside as well. His footwork and sneaky UC to the body from the inside are great neutralizers. And Ward would not have the power to hurt Bute with short shots.

As of now, I'd take Ward to win a decision. But should Bute win the rematch vs Froch in Canada after a comfortable body shot KO of Grachev, I'll change my pick to Ward DUCKING Bute for eternity.:good

I agree Flashy.......BUT......Bute MUST redeem himself. He'll fight his fight in Canada and he'll either KO Froch to the body or it'll be a close fight on the cards, win lose or draw. Either of those outcomes is redemption. With he desperately NEEDS.

Because Bute had an inflated hype bubble, and Froch burst that bubble like a boss.

I am one of the more notorious Bute criticizers on the forum, and did get a lot of **** for it, but I was always right, Bute has no chin, NONE.

Well your original answer had nothing to do with the post you quoted.
What does FB "likes" have to do with the price of a fish supper?

It is a risky move fighting Froch again, taking the chance of getting smoked in front of your loyal fans, but it is a fight that he needs to take in my opinion. You simply can't let a guy blow you out and continue your career as if it never happened. I know styles make fights but we don't always use that logic as boxing fans, right? He will have to fight Froch at some point in time to regain his status so he might as well get it over with since it is not a matter of being too green in the first fight, he won't learn anything new in terms of boxing technique, just needs a new approach. Whether a different strategy gets the job done or not is a different story but one that is worth finding out.

I thought it was an interesting point, if only to show how far Froch is off the UK publics radar. Not that I care about media awards, but has he ever been nominated for SPOTY?
