Khan is too blatant, his pushes are in slow motion in front of the ref, not saying that they should have been point deductions, but some awareness is needed when you know the ref is not on your side.
All I got to say about the ref is in a rough fight like that where BOTH fighters at times doing there messy stuff, Khan gets 2points deducted for pushing??? Peterson coming in with his head first, holding Khan, getting in some low blows, but the ref did not mind none of that, each time they were holding on the ref would say Khan let him go. These guys having a war, and both bending the rules at times as all fighters do, but Khan gets 2 points off for pushing his guy off so they can start punching again? BS
Clearly Peterson put on a great fight and was a bulldog for 12 rounds. Khan was screwed out of a 1st round kd, deducted 2 points questionably and Peterson not told to stop putting his head in. Tactically Khan got it wrong. He'll learn alot from this. Peterson is a world class operator so there is no shame. Give Khan his kd and don't deduct the points and it's a clear UD with much less controversy. I'm happy with the loss because Khan need to learn some things.
My agenda? Everyone that says anything against Khan doesn't have an agenda. Khan was unlucky not to get a decision. What i was trying to say however is that Khan wasn't continually low-blowed as you would like to believe, only one was really low and granted yes the ref did miss it. However it wasn't grounds for a point deduction, the first of Khans was he didnt just push off he forearmed Peterson in the face. The second i was half asleep for but it appeared as though Khan threw a punch on the break (i could be wrong, i need to rewatch). My previous comment was also after Khan made a twat of himself again in the post fight interview, and i was in no mood for Khan sympathy.
Never in a milion years did he get knocked down in 1st round, its a disgrace to even think they were knockdowns. Get a grip man, i thought khan would walk this.
I thought the ref handled it well. The reality is Khan more and more took the appearence of a negative fighter trying to shy away from working inside. I don't buy that Lamont was dangerous with the head, how many bad head clashes were there? He came in low at times for tactical reasons, nothing wrong with that. However pushing to avoid a fighter working inside where he has the better of things when he has effectively cut the ring off is a significant foul, worse than it looks for the reasons I just said. How many times did the ref warn Khan after the first point deduction? As for the scoring, I had Peterson winning and winning well. Landed the more effective shots and showed the better defence. Khan resorted to ineffective doggy paddling for significant portions of the fight. Petersen blocked them, got inside and landed big punches. The right hand over the top, the uppercut, body punches were all right on target.
they weren't necessarily power kd's and they was tangling but thats both the fighters faults. punches connect, the fighter goes down, its a kd even if admittedly there was some tangling and balance issues.
Just watched the fight. Thought the decision was fair as were the deductions. I saw the fight as a draw but, with the points off, a win for Peterson. Khan's attacks were pretty weak and Peterson did the better work.
Yep Khan's punches for long periods were pitter patter off of gloves, Peterson was the general and punched with quality. Khan's footwork was also near enough running at times. He just didn't do himself any favors.
Now that's the part i disagree with, There's a difference to pushing off if a fighter is lying on you and not working. Peterson everytime he got inside worked! and worked with quality. Khan at times was initiating the holding/pushing to stop Peterson having any success. That to me isn't boxing and is bending rules to suit himself and stop the guy exploiting his major weakness. Khan wanted the fight at long range, he failed to maintain range with his amazing jab and that's what failed him last night. It was similar to Murphy vs Theophane in fact Theophane for large periods refused to stand ground and use jab and work centre ring. Khan's constant circling was his undoing last night IMO.
Agreed. Khan was fouling and got pulled up on it. The referee warned him plenty of times before points were taken.
