Just rewatched Pavlik-Taylor and I gotta say...

yer, i watched a documentary once, his life story basically, sounded like a top guy, brought his trainer a truck and that with money for olympics, i just like his style too:good

This was a great great fight. I thought it was over in the 2nd, then Kelly came out in the 3rd as if it never happened.

 

"Like nothing ever happened." That was Manny's freaking MANTRA in the post fight presser!

 

The funny thing about this fight is Emanuel Steward saying to Taylor in about the 5th or 6th round, "He's wearing down. You're conditioning is superb." What a moron. It's as if he doesn't even know Pavlik's history and workrate. He doesn't even know his own fighter's past.

 

dude i think ur wrong time of stoppage it was the 7 rd. he had alot more fighting he would have eventually gassed pav would have caught him with something eventually no doubt it was a great fight taylor was the champion they probly would have given it to him

 

i have to agree steward is an over-rated trainer and he gets too much on the fighter's bandwagon - even when he knows he's not being realistic. i don't care about what he's achieved in the past, i don't have a lot of respect for him now.

 

The dumbest thing Manny said was after the first round. He said; "You gott him fighting at a pace he isn't used to." Taylor was playing Pavlik's game, and Manny should have told him to "control the pace," and try to slow things down a bit.

 

Pavlik's sparring partner was watching from the back of the arean. He said he could tell in the begining of the 6th that Taylor had changed. Call it gassed, but Pavlik has a way of 'gas by punch'. :yep

 

That was an exuse offered up to Taylor by reporters and he seized on it. Still, if you are 'punched out' after two rounds, that is YOUR fault. Poor, poor conditioning.

 

Yep! JT was catchin' that right hand all night long. After the beating he took in the 3rd I was amazed to see him do so well in the 4th. Taylor made a JT fan out of me that night.
