I think this fight is very relevant to Kessler vs. Calzaghe.

First of all, great performance by Calzaghe, never was in trouble and never lost control. Really dominated Veit throughout with good sharp lefts and combinations.

Whilst Veit has a very similar style to Kessler, I can't bring myself to agreeing thst this fight indicates a Calzaghe victory. Here's why:

    1. Quite simply, Veit is not as good as Kessler. In fact im not sure he does anything better than Kessler. His height is the main advantage he has, but other than that, Kessler has a better jab, straight right, footwork, chin, power, ring generalship etc.

    2. Whilst Calzaghe did dominate this fight, it helped that Veit has a combination of a shaky chin, low output and a very negative style. He seemed very timid and at times scared. Contrary to popular belief though, he actually landed his jab more than I expected (when he actually did throw), and even caught Calzaghe with a good right or two (end of first round).

    3. Calzaghe was razor sharp in this fight and much of his success stems from great counter punches. Im not sure how Calzaghes preperation was for this fight, but he looked in good form. It may sound harsh, but I don;t feel Calzaghe devised the perfect plan and thus beat Veit. JC was just setting the pace and Veit crumbled round by round. Each round Veit went more and more into his shell and took more punishment.

Now if I had to assume, Calzaghes speed and reflexes MAY have dropped off if even by the smallest margin since then, and Kessler is a class above Veit. After watching this fight, I still stand by my prediction of a Kessler win, although there is some merit to use this as a reason why Calzaghe will win.

I saw that fight in Germany and that is the fight I give him most credit for along with the first Veit fight, Eubank, Mitchell, Brewer and Lacy.

Veit was something like 30-0 when he fought Calzaghe the first time. He got sparked in one round. Kessler is not the monster people are making out. He's a dual champion, (Siaca and Beyer) - c'mon!!:nono
Froch, Miranda, Pavlik and a long list of others would unify against those!!
