In the newest eastbay magazine. This is big for boxing, and the small things count. Eastbay is a big sports catalog in the USA, so now Casuals are being introduced to him. I can't find the layout online but He was advertising for Under Armour, looked like he was throwing a medicine ball, or pushing a double end bag. The bottom of the Ad just identified him as Canelo WBC Superwelterweight Champion Trust me guys, Eastbay is a good start for American advertising! Next we'll see him giving interviews on ESPN! Oh yeah he is doing Under Armour advertising. Good **** for boxing COTTO is known for Ecko... Maybe Canelo following in those footsteps he's been reppind under Armour for a while now. and a few weeks ago on his twitter I saw him shooting for it. I'll post up those pics.
He's had a long time to work on it, I remember after the Lopez fight, he said he would speak in the Post-fight interview in english.
He is about to breakout as a star ... I see him facing Trout and then Cotto in September after that he will be a huge draw.
I remember hearing him speak in english on a segment HBO did on him not too long ago, it sounds like it's coming along pretty good.
Good stuff. Boxing back on network TV. Fighters showing up in catalogs and commercials. Ecko. Under Armor. Eastbay. Subway (I know it was Mike Lee, but that was a widely seen campaign). I think boxing will get more exposure in the next few years. Networks are looking for relatively cheap live programming and boxing can fit that bill. Major US sports are already locked up and priced out.
