I also saw the original telecast. I haven't had the desire to watch it again, but that may change. There is also a movie about Kim's life in Korean language with subtitles which might be a good companion to actually watching the fight. I think it's called "Champion". It might be more meaningful to know a little more about Kim.

I recently had a similar experience with Johnny Owen. I had heard so much about him but never saw Owen - Pintor. I ended up buying the book about Johnny Owen titled "The Big If". It was really about Pintor also. It was a brilliant book and shows Owen to be a tremendous person. I then watched the fight but only up through round 10. I guess one angle is to watch the fight in honor of the fallen victim. Watch and see his bravery, but I had no desire to see the finish of Owen-Pintor. Mancini - Kim has a similar ending.

I watched it. I feel as a fan, we have to honour these guys who gave so much to the sport they loved, so I watch their fights to pay my final respects.

Kim was just a pure warrior, no two ways about it.

The DVD I have has an interview with Mancini a few days after the fight with Kim still in hospital. Mancini is wearing big glasses to hide his tears but you just see the greif and guilt he has.

Watch that and the rematch & you should sleep like a baby. In the great final 3 months of 82, that fight was a stinker.

I watched it in '82 and have watched it a lot since. It was a great fight the day after the great Pryor-Argue. fight. You honor Kim's courage by watching it, just as you do Owen's when you see his great effort in the Pintor fight. (Which is also a terrific fight.).:vikingThe Margarito-Pac. fight will be fought this year on the same date and same day as Mancini-Kim.

Saw it live on TV when I was 8 in Nov. of '82. I thought it was a great fight. Kim died 5 days later.

The ref (Richard Greene) committed suicide in Feb. of '83... Kim's Mother also committed suicide 4 months later.

Deuk-Koo Kim put up one hell of a fight!

    It's a damn shame though.

I haven't watched it since the original telecast. It was a hell of a fight.
