even the Diaz fight, Diaz's flurries are pretty and the crowd gets all riled up, but when you watch some of their exchanges in slow motion ... Diaz missed every one of his punches and JMM connects cleanly with every counter.
Its almost scary how little marquez has to land 'cleanly' to knock his opponent out. Pacquiao didnt back off marquez for an entire round off one body shot of his own accord. The thing with marquez is, usually when he hits you, he hits you flush. Most fighters land a variety of blows from glancing to clean connects.
Your Probaly a pac fan so Ill say your biased because jmm gave Pac hell hand delivered. But I have to agree I expect it to be competetive
Not in every fight. Alot of fights are just formalities where one of the fighters clearly has zero chance......this fight is'nt one of those. Marquez imo has advantages in workrate which can go hand in hand with stamina if the fight reaches the late stages and fought at a high pace. Shot variety also belongs in the JMM column. Combination punching which Marquez does often with consistency. Surely because Mayweather is proven at 147 lbs, he's got more advantages........but certainly JMM does quite a few things better than Mayweather in which it may or may not be a factor in the fight. Quality of opposition imo likely goes to JMM simply for the fact that he schooled Pacquiao twice. Mayweather has nothing on his resume to even compete with that. Aside from Pacquiao, their resume's are pretty much on par, maybe even leaning slightly to Mayweather but no by much imo. The Pacquiao fights put JMM over the top in quality of opposition imo if you should compare both against eachother. Past prime, yes. But Marquez was already past prime for the Pacquiao fights as well. Past prime but still fighting at a very high level which to me still represents a danger to any fighter that JMM can fight. Nacho beristain said....."For Mayweather we will have to be aggressive but calculative at the same time. Juan has stepped up and changed his style a bit to please the crowd and be able ot land bigger fights, but for Mayweather we'll revert more to Marquez using alot more of his boxing skillset.....to no do so will be to launch yourself for Mayweather to pick us apart." Dont look so much into Marquez getting hit some by Casa and Diaz. Those fighters were not on the level of Mayweather and JMM knew that when he guaged to what extent he could open himself up with them. Ever hear of great fighters fighting to the level of their opposition, and raising their game according to the level of fighter in front of them? The goal for Marquez in both the Casamayor and Diaz fight was to look good while pleasing the fans. .....going for the KO.... Believe me, thats not going to be the goal against a fighter the caliber of Mayweather. .....as a result we're likely to see Marquez more calculaitng and alot harder to catch with a clean hard shot. Correction, a 36 year old who stamina wise and overall conditioning may still be the very best in the game. I certainly would'nt be worried about Marquez' health against Mayweather. Marquez is not the type of fighter to worry about healthwise taking a beating.....his skillset is so high that he has the full capacity to disrupt any fighters rhythm. The Pacquiao fights are example A to that. Marquez' skillset imo is still at the very top of the game. You want me to rate it at a scale basis? Before the first Pac fight, about the Medina and Peden fights I'd rate it a 10.........the first Pacquiao fight a 9.5....... The Pacquiao rematch which imo Marquez' speed dropped just a little, but still would rate at 9 or slightly above. I've seen nothing to drop Marquez further than a 9 even today. The step up to Welter certainly brings its question marks......but I'm seeing JMM's body in the 24/7's carrying that weight well......and we have'nt seen the recent pictures of Marquez body today, as alot of the video from those first 24/7's was taken before the postponement......I'd imagine Marquez' body is even better honed right now. .....and Btw, I wont come out looking like a genius if JMM were to win. Its going to suprise you, but I've said all along that Mayweather should be the favorite and has a better chance of winning due to his advantages. I'm not picking JMM to win......I'm not the nuthugging type to pick a fighter no matter what the disadvantages are. My only contention is that this matchup is far from a mismatch......and knowing the fighters strenghths and weaknesses, I will not be suprised in the least to see JMM come out on top. Marquez more than anyone in boxing imo is one of those special out of series fighters you just cant count out against anyone.......and that includes against the best P4P fighter in the game Floyd Mayweather Jr.!:deal I'm not picking JMM, but I'm certainly not going to underestimate him! Can JMM win? Certainly he can! ......and I'll certainly have my lungs and vocal chords prime and ready to root him on to victory on Sept. 19th! JMM SHOCK THE WORLD!!! :bbb:bbb:bbb:bbb
I hope you are right. I simply do not want to see mismatches because it gives boxing bad name. Plus the fact that there is a risk involved when a small fighter fights a bigger one. There is nothing better than to see a braggart, loudmouth being humbled by a smaller fighter, because the smell of victory is probably the sweetest thing. The nearest probably in recent fights is the Donaire vs, dARCHI FIGHT.
