I just re-watched it. The one and only time Pacquiao seemed to be in complete control was after he landed a right hook in the fifth round. It looked like JMM was ready to go for about 20 seconds after that, but by the end of the round, he was throwing right back.

The best Pac has done against JMM from a boxing sde, the slowest and oldest version of JMM he has fought, but JMM get's his long awaited and well deserved win against him.

It's fortunate for Pac that he is 5 years younger than JMM in each of the bouts.

    Very weak thread and reasoning.
I see contradictions at every turn. OP trying to come across as knowledgeable, but his inexperience is too transparent.

Saw the replay tonight, had Pac winning every round other than the 3rd. He hurt JMM BADLY in the 5th and was busting him up in the 6th before the KO came. All props to JMM but anyone that thinks this fight was lopsided in JMM's favor is kidding themselves.

Marquez is way past it, IMO. Not quite shot, but ripe to being exposed as a 40 year old fighter.

Unless he's fighting Pacquiao (whose timing he has down after 4 fights) he shouldn't fight again. Head-to-Head aside, Pacquiao is the more serviceable of the two.

    I don't see Marquez beating a top 5 147 pounder. I see top 5 140 pounders giving him trouble. I don't see him making 135 anymore.

It was a phenomenal KO, but I think it's clouding peoples' perception of where Marquez is at this point of his career.

Pac did not trip and fall com on!! he leaped in with that right left combo marquez stepped his left and let loose a short right ..

There are plenty of video showing marquez practicing that exact shot.
Give the man his credit he stood in fire and still had enough focus to allow him to do what he needed to do..

Pac fan are really so delusional that they can't except that fact Pac loss fair and square, they will hang on to the fact that roid, manny tripped :patsch , religion was the cause of pac loss.

Good point-he was in la-la land and so "knocked out" he wasn't even
concerned nor did he pay attention to the awe-struck audience that waited payiently at ringside for his next move

Just watched the HBO version of the fight. What I'm noticing is a lot of people are letting HBO's biased comments affect their beliefs. The love Pac was receiving from Lampley and Jones was just off the charts. I couldn't stand hearing Jones repeat the fact that he believed Marquez couldn't do anything about Pac's head movement and feints. JMM was getting hit but Pac was also missing a lot. And what about the body shots Pac was taking? He couldn't do anything about those! They were clearly having an affect on him as the fight went on. Of course they aren't going to emphasize on that because he's not a big star like Pac. Basically what I've gathered is this: whenever Pac has a surge and the crowd goes wild, the HBO commentators will say things to make it sound like Pac is unstoppable or unbeatable.

Marquez is one of the most intelligent boxers in the game. Even Lampley has stated this in the past. Yet they didn't give him the benefit of the doubt last Saturday. They ought to be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves for underestimating Marquez so much. He proved them wrong in the most emphatic way possible.

That may be a bit too far. I can thinnk of 50 fights just from top of my head going back just 10 years....but its subjective.

To OP. Ill have to agree I gave Marquez may be one (1) round (taking the KDs out the equation).

I'm NOT a Pac fan, and more of a fan of Marquez but as such I'm realistic and I attempt to be objective...most of the time! :yep

The crowd was pro marquez. You must have missed the point when roy said that marquez said he was smarter than pac.

People go into these hbo casts with such bias it's absurd. They're positively BEGGING for HBO to do something stupid and they just make things up if they don't. There have been far, FAR, worse HBO telecasts than this one. They were giving JMM his due, they DID mention the body shots. But JMM was pretty clearly losing the fight up until the stoppage and the commentating reflected that.

What people seem not to know is that a person runs the compubox system and it is subject to human error.
