5 days ago Rigondeaux didnt think he was fighting saturday night, got the green light wednesday, packed to Vegas for a press conf thursday, weigh in friday and fighting saturday night.Still he put on a clincic against a very good boxer like Marroquin-who has already beat Broner and Russell Jr as amateurs.
Does he has a weak chin? well, fighting a much bigger guy with a high percentage of KO i dont think he's excatly a glass jaw.He took those punches and didnt bend, didnt take a knee or a count. He was wobbled,i reckon it but he kept his composure and stay in the fight.Even those rds he got rocked(3-6)he was landing more that Marroquin.
He showed good stamina finishing stronger and i believe he could have won by KO in the last rd.
In my opinion Rigo looked good last night,i was afraid his mind would be somewhere else with all the BS going on.But he came to fight,to win and to convince.
If his performance last night will lure Nonito out of his shell to fight him, great!! Is the fight everybody want to watch.

This is all true but the fact he was in control of the fight and still got hurt a couple of times is worrying considering hes chasing a fight with Nonito Donaire

with the ammount of **** he had interupt his training i feel he did very well against a clearly underated opponent

when he got wobbled he recovered very well and that was due to his very extensive amateur background

What about nonitos last performances? He's been getting hit too much. The African dude, who showed the worse footwork I've seen in recent yrs,was tagging Nonito all night,so did Vasquez with the jab.Imagine Rigo landing those shots.
Anyone who gets hit by Nonitos left hook hits the canvas, bank on it.

Actually they said rigondeaux trained hard for this fight and was unaware of the legal trouble they just had him train for marroquin.

Marroquin kept switchting game plans as he did not know who he was gonna fight. Not that it matter rigondiglass is a good fighter but that chin will be his down fall.

No Doc, Rigo knew exactly what was going on.He kept going to the gym but his mind wasn't there.Last week looked like his career was going down the hill, and he knew it.

i think you are right about his chin, he is an amazing fighter with great athletic ability but he isent exactly young.. he will start slowing down and get hit alot more. i just hope he gets some big wins on his resume before this happends

But he knew he was training for one fight and one fight only... Marroquin was switched and back many times. Not that it matters good fight by marroquin but that midget got skills that chin though it ain't holding up as the fighters get better by the time he reaches elite it gon get cracked bank on it.

I don't take anything away from Marroquin ,the kid showed a lot of heart and determination. He is an example of a young boxer who's not afraid of adding an L to his record.I see a bright future on his horizon.Just tonight he was fighting a better boxer.

True but Rigondeaux has proven to have a shaky chin as of late whilst Donaire hasnt and has quite a bit of power, whilst he has looked less than satisfactory as of late he has still been dropping opponents which could spell trouble for Rigo

Whilst I believe Rigo is a better boxer technically he tends to start things at a slow pace and seems to fall asleep in fights which he cant afford to do against Donaire

Don't be fooled Marroquin is a talented fighter with a impressive amateur record (165-15). He even beat Gary Russell Jr, he had the height and reach advantage over Rigondeaux and this was a good step up for him in his 11 pro fight...further more a better opponant then that Jeffrey Mathebula (unification or not).

When Rigondeaux fights Donaire...he will be more movitated than we have ever seen him...think when Tarver was calling out Roy for years/or When Floyd called out Oscar/Gatti/Mosley...these were fights they wanted because Both knew they could win them...

    Viva Rigondeaux
