Just saw Vera scheduled to fight Jon Jones

vera is also a dangerous opponent, his muay thai is deadly and is more experienced, jones likes to do risky flashy manouveres which could get him caught

 

i hope snitch ass Jones gets put to sleep by a Vera knee.

I hope Jones stomps Vera but the problem is no one has taken an upperhand on Vera standing, if Vera decides to throw someone always gets hurt (Sylvia, Werdum, Couture, He almost broke Jardine leg) Problem is he has an output limit 10 punches and 5 kicks per round. If Jones can take this to the ground then I see a spectacular gnp. But he may be in trouble standing.

Vera's "great striking" only seems to show up when he's in with someone who's totally over matched. When he's fighting someone good or dangerous he clams up. I haven't seen anything like that from Jones. Also, a lot of Vera's advantages in his fights are his height and his athleticism but Jones has him beat on both accounts. I really don't see Vera winning this fight, which is awesome because I can't stand the guy.

Compare the guys Vera fought, to the ones Jones fought. Then you'll understand.

 

The only thing with Vera is I dont think he puts out enough in his toughest fights. The fight with Sylvia was winnable Sylvia just outworked him I think if Vera stepped it up he gives himself a great chance to win a decision. Jardine its the same step it up and its yours. With Couture I think Vera did nothing in the clinch he just avoided takedowns while Couture was attempting them, using knees, shoulders etc and just overall he was working. Vera has world champion potential ive always believed that but I think he needs to be more agressive, take those chances needed to be an elite fighter instead of just that really good talented fighter.

 

i dont think veras stand up is as good as they say! regardless of the tutelage of ol' low kick! i can also see jones doing a monte barret! over confidence leads to down right embarrassment! that flashy **** won't work in the trenches...he shud be a HW.

 

I like Vera, but he better take Jones down. Which I doubt he will, if anyone is getting taken down it's gonna be Vera via ragdoll toss, then maybe Vera can work some BJJ on him. But if this fight stays standing, Vera is getting beat.

 

What are you talking about?? Everyone that Vera fought and Vera unleashed a combo they got hurt. He is that good technically. He had Werdum hurt and he decided to take a break. This is the man who had Couture wincing in pain (so much so that Randy turned his back!! lol, yes it true) and Vera stopped fighting, he thought he won.

Veras problem is mental, he's a bit ******ed.

 

IMO, what vera lacks is the killer instinct. lately, he doesn't try to finish his opponents. he's content on scoring points a la floyd mayweather. i hope he lets those fist and knees fly against jones.
