seriously what is this guy on?

in an environment where the top end boxers in each division barely face each other until they have padded their records and got some dollars, pounds or Euro's behind we have idiots likes this calling for another tournament not to happen.

Come on, if this tournament never happened you could gurantee that Ward wouldn't be WBA champ, Dirrell would still be undefeated and more like Abraham would still be fighting in Germany.

OK the duration of the thing can **** people off but this guy is blaming US fight fans for poor viewing figures for the fights that are being aired from Europe. What a tool.

I bet he wouldn't be mouthing this off if it was the top 6 from 147.

Who is he arguing that Ward should have fought instead of Kessler and Green?

And who should Dirrell have fought instead of Froch and Abraham?

I like the idea of tournaments but I'm not a fan of the structure, the round robin does take a while and deprives other possible fights that could be made in the division. I would have rather seen 8 guys start out, go to 4 fighters for a semi-final, and than 2 for a final. Draw will be an immediate rematch. The whole thing could be done in less than a year.

I just can't understand why people still whine about the tournament. You have the best fighting the best, and it isn't a single elimination tourney. We get to see how it unfolds and each fighter gets 3 fights (expect for Green because he is replacing Taylor) and then we move on to the semis. Even if people don't like how slow it's going, it's not like the fighters would be fighting every 3 months without the tourney. All of these haters of the tourney are rubbish and have some sort of agenda.

    Without the tourney:
Ward and Dirrell would still be at "prospect" level
Kessler would still be on a milk carton
Froch would be making a mando to keep his WBC belt
Abraham....tough to say he may still be at Middleweight defending his IBF belt or he may have moved up to 168 to make some fights, but they wouldn't have be JT or Dirrell.
Taylor...well Taylor would still be fighting.
Green would still be saying he is the best and other fighters are ducking him and yada yada yada.

Well yeah, anytime a fight happens it deprives the world of other fights that could have happened instead.

If the tournament had been a stright knock out, it probably never have happened. And if it had Dirrell and Kessler would have been knocked out after one fight. Why would that be better?

Showtime averaged just 437,000 viewers during the Ward-Green fight, a pitifully low number
    Bute-Berrio had 1.1 million viewers
    Bute-Joppy had 1.25 million viewers

That is pretty bad, but that's not the tourney's fault. The promoters and Showtime haven't really promoted the fight and have really gotten it out there to the public. Not to mention, the fight itself was pretty bad.

WHO GIVES AS **** ABOUT THE NUMBERS!?! None of them are that well known over here and don't have the Pac, May or DeLaHoya star power. None besides maybe Abraham in Germany and Kessler in viking land have any real following. They just talk **** because of Bute but he's been looking very good against guys that are taylor made for him.
