Yeah, i know where you are coming from. I put it down to a lack of boxers to get participating (i know there is more talent out there, but with promotional companies etc, some boxers would be hard to land for something like this). But I kind of like the current set up. Looking at it your way means Dirrell would be out, which in my opinion, would be severely unfair and wouldn't give him a chance to turn his career round and beat AA. It leaves it more down to talent than one off performances.

I really don't like the Super Six from a sport expansion standpoint. For most of us on ESB we would follow the Super Six if it took 5 years to complete. But for the average fan, who the hell has ever followed a tourney for 3 or 4 years? It doesn't help if it takes too long because people begin not to care. They need to speed this **** up somehow. Personally I want the Knockout stage to be a double header, and the final match to have a "bronze medal" match as well. And I want all of this to happen by November of next year.

I have some friends who are sports fans but not necessarily boxing, and when we talk boxing, apart from hometown fighters, there are only 3 topics. Pac vs Floyd, the Klitschkos, and the Super6. That's boxing to the casual right now.

The 400k audience he is quoting for the Ward-Green fight was the same as the Fedor fight and its standard for Showtime Boxing/MMA. Sure the mainstream media hasn't picked up on it, but that was a long shot to begin with. I wonder if we will hear Iole moan about the really low numbers that the last WEC (which is owned by ZUFFA aka UFC) pulled on basic cable.

Why trash and event that pits the best fighting the best? if it wasn't for the round robin format most of these fighters would not agree to participate.

If it was one round kockouts then dirrel and kessler would have been out after the first fight, imagine all the threads that would have produced:)

As a poster said above, if it hadn't been a round robin format I very much doubt we would have seen the top end fighters taking part.

I think the tournament has been good for all involved. When would these top guys have fought each other? It wouldn't have happened as often.

It could be done in less than a year..... And be worthless shyte.

Imagine that Dirrell beats Ward next and then goes on to win the entire tourney.

In your tourney Dirrell would have been out already. The tourney has the form it has for a reason.

The reason is that knowledgable fight fans know that styles make fights and that the overall best fighter may lose the odd fight and your system assumes the best would beat the rest...while reality usually is that the best still can lose - on a bad day or to a bad stilistic match-up. In single elimination a lot is determined by the luck of the draw...

So - when the choice is many great fights and possibly the best fighters in the final OR few great fights and some possibly random fighters in the final... I know what I would pick.

Great idea, just not implemented in a timely fashion. In this day and age people lose interest quickly. The UFC is in your face constantly, consequently stealing most of the thunder.

    :deal

Only criticism of Super 6 is Bute's non participation.

There should be something like this in every division. This is how we should be able to judge all the champions and their alphabet titles against each other. As of right now whoever wins the super 6 is gonna be the closest we have been in a long time to what it used to be like to have one champion.

Absolutely. Had it been a European that pulled out rather than Taylor, I think he would have been the natural replacement.

It seemed that they really wanted to keep it 3 Europeans and 3 Americans.

No-one with any better options was ever going to join a competition where they were giving their opposition a one fight head start...
