    A couple of times I sparred with a guy like Chuvalo (relative to my own skills and physical dimensions of course). Crude as hell but just teak tough and impossible to hurt. It was horrible. There's just something inherently draining (physically? mentally?) about fighting someone like that, even if they're wide open and can't hurt you that bad themselves. Just the fact that nothing you can do to them has any effect on their forward momentum totally takes it out of you. God knows what that guy would have been like on the street, outside the confines of a defined ruleset.

    Chuvalo, man, what a beast. Him and Shavers are my favourite of the 70s era heavyweights. Terrible what happened to his family. The man's chin wasn't the only thing made of iron.

    chuvalo is now 75 years old,you still wouldn't want to mess with him

    Amen bigjake...Chuvalo is still a badass..probably will be even when he turns 85..
