I was rooting for Mosley, but Floyd put on an impressive exhibition of pure boxing genius. Not only did Floyd adapt with such perfection, he managed to walk Shane down many times. He was more aggressive with Shane than he was with JMM! Was this the dragon that Nazim spoke about? It was absolutely surreal when Shane wobbled Floyd in the 2nd round. Just like most everyone watching, I'm sure, I thought "oh my god, is what's happening what I think is happening??!!!" No...apparently not. Floyd looked embarrassed and decided to embarrass Shane for the 10 remaining rounds...and he did it with HEART. Floyd showed some grit tonight and that definitely won respect of this boxing fan. Speaking of Floyd getting wobbled...did you all see how quickly the crowd starting chanting "Mosley, Mosley, Mosley" ?? Seriously, how many people are waiting for the person that can defeat Mayweather? Mayweather's defeat seems like such an illusion, and his conqueror seems like such a mythological character. Does he even exist? Admittedly, when Floyd got hurt, I thought to myself, "If a 38 year old Shane can catch Floyd once...Manny ought to be able to do it at least once, and he won't throw nearly as little as Shane." When Mayweather retired without fighting Cotto, Margarito, Paul Williams, or Mosley he completely lost my respect. He retired unproven as a welterweight. During his retirement, Margarito beat the crap out of Cotto, Paul Williams moved up to Junior Middle Weight and Mosley beat the crap out of Margarito. When Mayweather returned, he vowed to fight 5 matches against top competition. He ended up fighting a blown up Lightweight. His match with Pacquiao. But perhaps he is making good on his word. As a boxing fan, I can forget that he retired the first time without proving himself as a Welterweight....as long as he continues doing what he said he was going to do. I can only hope that a fight with Pacquiao materializes. I've been harsh on Floyd in the past, but I was only keeping it real. Floyd is delivering and it's time to give respect where respect is due. Huge props to Floyd. With that being said...regardless if Floyd's motivations for imposing Olympic style drug testing on Pacquiao are sincere or insincere...the very fact is he's exposing Pacquiao. Unless Pacquiao is scared of Mayweather or is using steroids, it is absolutely inconceivable to me why he wouldn't just man up the way Shane Mosley did and take the tests? He should be flattered that Mayweather thinks he's so good that he must be taking steroids, and he should be willing to do everything he can in the ring and out of the ring to prove to the fans that he's wrong; and to give the fans what they want. Pacquiao's always talking about pleasing his fans. Well I'm a huge Pacquiao fan, and if he doesn't do what he can to make this fight happen then I have no choice but to believe he's scared of losing to Mayweather or he's using steroids. HOWEVER, if anyone is knowledgeable on this, I'd like to ask. Is it true that hair samples are just as accurate and reliable as blood testing??? If so...why would that not be sufficient for Mayweather? I'd love some clarity on this. Also huge props to Ellerbe for resisting the urge to molest Floyd inbetween rounds!! Even when Floyd was wobbled!!
