just a FYI: every single thing in the bold is completely incorrect and some is straight up unthinkable to people in the real world. for 1 no company would EVER just take a loss to try to attract future fighters.. unless we talkin some startup company that has a crazy product and he got the 41M for nelo, he got 30 something for ghost and ir was over 1m buys with the price 75 for HD and 65 for reg. they made a boatload of $$$
I'm really not sure how the upside works.. i dont think its if he brings in more PPV than his guarantee he then gets more. from my understanding, elerbe is the only one who could really tell us straight up. but from what i heard (grapevine shat) is anything over # of ppv sales he get X % off any additional. the dude is soo grossly paid. i mean they put their future health and life on the line every fight so i guess we cant say over paid but the deal he got is just insane. i mean insane.. he is thinking about many family generations to come that no one in his family, extended family will ever think about working out side of being some kind of made up crazy title like associate CEO or president of the president.. lol all i know is the dude is worth insane money. ever since he came back from his break in 09 its been , well, competely unfair to every other ppv fighter unless they fighting him. god damn mofo is fkn monopoly
No... Pac PPV was a Flop and I just dont see where are they going to come up with the 30Mil he was to earn...:nut
what 30M ? where are people getting that ridiculous # from as a guarantee ? just a misunderstanding, arum loves to confuse people his guarantee was 18M and arum said when all said and done he could make 30.. LMFAO, if it did way over Mil he would've made more but he just about for sure is getting only his guarantee which is 18M. still insane money
Thats crazy money! That will sort the Mayweather family out for generations! It would be hard to spend all of that money in his lifetime. Considering he doesn't drink or do drugs.... yet! :hey If he markets some other fighters well enough (E.g Garcia, Khan etc) he could well break his own record again and again. That would be something! More dollars than stars in the sky.
I think he gets 250 guaranteed and possibly more but let's say he would get 40 million per fight ( thats hard because there aren't 4 fighters right now that could get over a million ppvs) 40 million x 6=240 million that means he would just get the 250 million guaranteed. I doubt hell get more than that but if he does good for him, its a rare thing in boxing when a fighter retires in wealth so this just shows how smart Floyd is
What happens if Floyd were to lose his last remaining fights? Becomes a Roy Jones overnight and loses 500k of viewers per fight, im assuming Sho would still have to maintain there agreement?
you're missing the money from people watching it live and im sure there's a lot of other small stuff like sponsors and much more we don't hear about
The deal is with Showtime/CBS CBS is the richest network in the world. He could flop every fight and they still wouldnt be losing money.
Its always hard to put together exactly how the money goes. Chances are FMJ made less than 40m on ghost fight, if I recall correctly the SHO deal was estimated at about 250M. While I am sure FMJ has gaurantees, I dont recall anything hard that said his gaurantee was 41M. That 250M number was an a general estimation of the minimum worth of the deal was it not? That estimate probably assumed some fights would generate more than others, with of course the potential for additional upside should it be very successful. While the contract itself is probably 100+ pages, and made several Lawyer, Lawyer and Lawyer LLP firms a nice payday ***tuple checking it.. going by SOP in some industries that have similarities and I am more familiar with I would guess the deal goes something like this after being adjusted for boxing: Weight/Training guarantee, probably 2-5M at a guess. FMJ probably makes a small amount (relatively) just for training, and showing up to weigh in without issue. Including AllAccess rights, etc.. probably a couple-five mil just for that. 5m or so for physically stepping into the ring without issue, including making contracted weight; just a guess on amount. The way every tiny thing is haggled in boxing contracts, id have to think FMJ gets a good sum for this act, for every fight, even if something happens.. like his opponent trips and breaks a leg on his ringwalk. So for just training, doing AA, and showing up he probably makes around 7-10M He probably then gets about 10m for the bell sounding, for the broadcast, IP, archive, etc rights. SHO owns the fight and once its a fight and the PPV money is safe, FMJ probably receives money for that. Then on fight conclusion, he probably recieves 10-15M AAR - advance against royalty, or revenue. That is, here is where the amount probably start varying some. Before all the income is tabulated he probably gets a guaranteed advance, just guessing around 10M range. The formula is probably pretty complex in reality, but the long and short is FMJ gets a guaranteed number here and the more revenue that comes in for the fight via gate and PPV and other licensed revenue the more money he makes. I am sure the particulars and formulas are a closely guarded secret, such as he probably gets a bonus for certain weights (I bet anything FMJ got additional upside for allowing 152 Canelo) and for tax and other reasons the money flow is probably pretty complicated. But the 250M estimate probably based on guesses of FMJ making between roughly 30M and 50M per fight over 6 fights.
Not necessarily. FMJ seems a lot smarter businessman that say Manny. Key is having his own promotional company for one thing. Its quite possible to "control" large amounts of money, without "having" large amounts of money. And there are many ways to not get taxed on money you simply "control". Depending on existence of tax code specific to fighting in particular, its entirely possible that very little of the money is taxed on the front end. Judging by the way he does business and reports in financial mags, id say most of the money stays in companies FMJ controls and has investment and operating expense outlets that come up as negatives on balance sheet - and business generally pay tax on profits not income. All those cars? 100 to 1 they're technically owned by Mayweather Promotions or an associated trust and are "company cars", same with most of property, etc. FMJ probably "pays" himself a couple mil just for spending cash, but all indications are that he is savvy and the vast bulk of his money goes into a carefully constructed and managed financial machine that minimizes liability and risk, just like your typical white collar millionaire. Or in other words, its highly likely he will continue growing wealthier after his boxing retirement and not end up like Tyson or so many other fighters.
