I couldnt understand it either. It was clear to me and several others on here that Margo would overwhelm him.

During the leadup to the fight there wasn't any detailed breakdowns coming from anyone, literally, regarding specifically how exactly Cotto would or could beat Margarito. I for one, was complaining that we weren't getting anything of substance from the Cotto people. It was all "Cotto's too good" and "Cotto's too skilled." That was it. The people making arguments in favor of Margarito were coming with all sorts of logistical comprehensive analysis on precisely what would play out. In terms of litigation it was a ****ing wipeout in favor of the Margarito advocates before the fight took place. Go figure.

That's was because some people here dont watch a lot of boxing or didn't saw some of Margo fight's.

I and a few here already knew that Margo is a very strong fighter i dont see anyone stopping him right NOW at WW or at JM.

    A few reasons...

    1. Cotto had an aura of invincibility...He had a tremendous resume' (better than margos) and was able to overcome many different types of fighters and fights. More importantly though, he was undefeated.

    2. Margarito wasn't as well known. He main claim to fame was destroying kermit cintron 2x. Cotto beat Mosley, Judah, Quintana, Malignaggi, and Torres...All well known as top tier fighters in boxing circles.

    3. If Cotto implemented the correct strategy (being physically/mentally prepared to fight ALL 2160 seconds vs margarito & never keeping urself pinned in a corner or against the ropes...this was where ALL margo's destruction occured)

Yeah, they suggested that Cotto was effectively like a Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather, Willie Pep caliber boxer, of course - but here's where you're jumping the gun and missing the point, fluxstuff - we countered those arguments, and nobody came back with ANYTHING. The point is ultimately, there was no thesis, no complete body of theory. Just weak fragmented fanciful nonsense. That's the point. Of course there were stupid, unrealistic propositions made, but nobody every finalized any thought when pressed. Easy on the generics..

Nah, not that I've seen. And honestly, we - or just I, I'll say - didn't get that final bit of counterpointing after the we had gotten past the issues of Cotto's true lack of mobility, durability, actual boxing abilities, ect. There was nothing after that. Zilch. Nothing that worked anyway. Just alot of people sneaking out the back door of debates and closing on "COTTOZ MA BOI!" type endings. <--- LOL, BTW.

Can you do me a favor and stop riding my dick on threads. ****, seems like theirs a ****ing group or something doing this. I picked Margarito because Cotto seems to fade in fights and Margarito picks it up in the mid rounds then finishes strong. Also Margarito is bigger and can take a punch and I knew Cotto didn't have the stamina or power to beat Margarito. Now **** off.

Like any fight that can be made between any current WWs, I said the fight was a 50/50. I honestly think each and every fighter has some flaw that could cause them to loose against any other high ranked fighter in that division. Mayweather was the only fighter I would have given over a 50% chance of winning any fight at WW.

cotto outboxed mosley in the later rounds and punked malignaggi. and i think this is a reverse case of fighter falling in love with their power but more falling in love with his boxing skils

he outboxed and countered very effectivly and won many rounds.
but it was clear that as he slowed down over the course of the fight that margo would get to him. also becuase cotto didnt slow margo down with body shots or any inside work he just seemed to run out of gas before margo was even finsihed in the gas tank.i had margo ahead but only becuase cotto was getting caught in the fight.if cotto had done some brief exchanges to get margo to set his feet then box and moved im sure it would of gone longer.

but the whole story was that miguel left his bread and butter of body punching and inside work to which he found himself in the later rounds against a reasonably fresh opponant when he was nearly on empty. as soon as he was running out of stamina he was getting caught by some awsome uppercuts and long range shots.

perosnally i wasnt sold on cottos defence he was very open for uppercuts especially how he bends pretty low from the waist.
i felt he was clealry beatable but felt that a sharp countepruncher with decnet handspeed and defence *cough* floyd *cough* would outbox and pick him apart. as this certain fighter wasnt in the division anymore i felt it was pretty open

i just didnt expect margo to be the guy to beat him

because cotto as shown after the fight wanting the rematch and to fight the best as usual ...is a legit fighter and bad ass ... face it nobody has looked as good as cotto did during his fight with margarito ..agianst margarito .. cintron couldn't do what cotto did ...williams fought like a ***** ... clottey couldn't look that good if he wanted too .. .cotto did what nobody has really tried ..he stood toe to toe with margarito and fought him like a man ... and his willingness to do this and continue to wanna do this is why if not everyone ..myself surely ...thought cotto would win ...he's a legit tough guy ..
