Wright clearly won the fight. It was a a very underrated great fight. Nobody thought Wright would stand toe 2 toe with Vargas but he did and imo he outbox, outslug Vargas. Imo he stunned Vargas more then Vargas stunned Wright. It was a close fight in which if some here gave it a draw, i wouldn't complain but there's no way Vargas won 7 rounds. So here thought won the fight? Here's the fight on youtube and judge for yourself.

Close fight. Scored it for Wright. Scored it a draw. Never for Vargas though. Vargas won it because he was the young gun with the big future ahead of him, the one with a future HoF career. Then came Trinidad. And it turned out it went the other way round.

Goddamn it Vargas was an absolute ****ing beast back then and taking on ridiculously good opposition. ****ing prime Quartey and Winky, then prime Trinidad and prime De La Hoya. Puts the prospects around now to shame.

Great fight and I'm pretty sure that I scored it 115-114 for Wright, but no robbery involved at all.
