Not in a million years. Didn't you hear ? Abraham is RUNNING from Pavlik ! Just ask the according informed posters.
Ok, Pavlik beat the man who dethroned Hopkins. What did he do in the fight with that Hopkins ? Right, NOTHING, unless you count "eat punches without going down, yeah". It's total bull**** to claim you know anything about how a fight unfolds by looking at some statistics or fight resume. Basically there are only 4 questions: can Abraham land on Pavlik, and how well does he take it ? And how much can Pavlik land on Abraham, and how well does that one take it. This cannot be taken from watching a fight where Abraham KNOWS the other guy cannot hurt him at all. He gets lazy all the time. When he wants to, he doesn't get hit at all. For someone who saw Pavlik lose every second of every round to said old man Hopkins, getting hit with everything but the kitchen sink looking amateurish like straight from a toughman competition, people are a bit strong about how much Pavliks technical total superiority will "fo' sho'" beat up this Abraham guy "easily". It's called "whistling in the dark", or hyping your nephew. Fact is, Abraham could lose a wide decision due to his style, easily. But at the same time, he didn't win any fight from being busier, he won every fight from smashing his opponents with a comparably small number of powershots. It's looking into a crystal ball trying to predict if and how much Abraham lands on Pavlik, and how well he takes it. Taylor had Pavlik allover the place, who couldn't dent many other fighters one bit.
I agree, one thing I don't understand nor probably will I ever is, WHENEVER, he starts throwing he gets his desired results. I don't get this feeling out rounds:huh
He spends so much energy on his punches he needs to conserve that, so he doesn't throw as much. Energy in a punch directly translates to the oxygene and chemical resources you consume. Big punch, massive load of resources spent. You could see that in some fights where he was really pressing the action in a round to get his opponent out of there, he was almost out on his legs the next round. So, if Abraham goes all out from the get go, his opponent is both fresher and can take it better, and more concentrated so he might evade more. This way he runs the danger of fading late and then losing the rounds he needs to win if he cannot land the KO. And by the way, to that "If Oral could land ..." - if LOCKET can land an overhand right on Pavlik, what would Abraham do to him ??? Rhetorical question, you don't need to answer.
Lacy was never anything more than an over-hyped titlist. Tons of people expected Lacy to run right over JC. Slappy Joe pretty much ruined Lacy. Pavlik/Abraham is, in principle, the same kind of story. An over-hyped and over rated titlist is favored to beat The Man, but any astute observer can see that every dimension of a fight would favor Pavlik. In the end, the results would be much worse for Arthur than the were for Jeff, because Kelly ain't no slapper. Just like BHop said; "Calzaghe throws punches to score points. Pavlik throws punches to hurt you."
Calzaghe beat Hopkins landing punches. Pavlik lost every round, every second, without landing anything. Yes, everything points into the direction that Pavlik is not only the much better Calzaghe, but also the much stronger one, who will run over Abraham or Hopkins at will ...
And that's why AA and his crew have been trying to make the fight and Pav's people have been protecting him with bull**** like AA isn't a big enough name for the great Pav ? At this point, AA is the bigger name of the two.
I am assuming your post is about ottke rather arthur. The only dodgy decision in arthur's carreer is the non disqualification he SHOULD have gotten to a guy headbutting a boxer knowing fully he was at a disadvantage. Arthur's brother would not have that though:rofl
I think you must have a fairly serious problem with reading comprehension. Pavlik/Abraham is on the same level with Calzaghe/Lacy because Lacy was never in Joe's league, but a lot of fans and so called experts expected Lacy to win. Abraham is not in Pavlik's league. Abraham just barely lives in the same universe with Pavlik, but a lot of fans and experts claim Abraham has a chance. Now, is that clear enough for you to get my drift?
Just the facts. Pav left the undisputed middleweight champion slumped on the canvass. Arthur lives off Raymond Joval and Bronco McKart's left overs.
