Stepping up Adamek changed his style and is now much more patient. If you watch the fight with Banks after watching the fights with Briggs its hard to believe that its the same boxer
If some1 havent seen em yet i woudnt recommend to watch it on youtube , that version lags like hell ,u cant see the punches.
Are you comparing Banks to Briggs? The reason why Adamek looked more patient against Banks is because Banks is really not active at all.... Adamek tried to be more patient with Briggs but the guy just forced adamek into a bit of a brawl Banks is useless - cant draw any meaningful comparison between the banks and briggs fights
Thats not really true. I remember Banks was very busy in the first four rounds, beating Tomasz to the punch, before he ran out of steam. His quickness surprised me. Don't sleep on Banks just cause he got KTFO by Adamek. Look what he just did to Walker. Banks has good speed on his punches and has ample power. Briggs was similar to Adamek in many ways.
I mean that, when you fight bigger guys, you must be more patient, because of the power. And the 2 fights with Briggs were very unique, because of the amount of punches. Its rare in the LHW division when a boxer throws about 1000 punches during the fight. The Banks fight was also very unique in the CW division, because they were fighting more like heavies than cruisers (both respecting eachother power) - and now they both fight at HW.
i watched both of these fights but were they shown in america. i know the first was on the big undercard and i am pretty sure we got it in the uk but it was not show in america. not sure if the second was televised either. tells you what you need to know about american tv execs picking fights though.
I almost feel like i cheated on one of my favourite fights by saying that... but i have to be honest - i could watch that Adamek fight more times then chico's victory - i thought the skill level was far higher
The second fight was shown the first wasnt. But to be far Adamek was a complete nobody in there first fight and Briggs was known to only hardcore fans and was suppose to run through the unknown Pole. I disagree. Corrales vs Castillo showed great skills but just no defence. Briggs vs Adamek 1 and 2 were great fights but Corrales vs Castillo 1 is on another level.
What did he do to Walker? What Manuel Quezada (who just lost to Jason Gavern) and TJ Wilson were able to do inside a round? Dude barely threw a punch for 5 rounds and looked like crap against a mediocre opponent.
The two Briggs vs Adamek fights are my my favourites of all time, equal first with Tua vs Ibeabuchi. As mentioned, Briggs retired because he had some severe damage to his central nervous system from fighting nonstop since being a youngster. Apart from being a world class boxer he was a world kickboxing champion at a ridiculously young age (I think he was a teenager when he won his first title). It's a huge shame cause he was one of my favourite fighters.
