Just watched Ali NOrton 3

It wasn't in Frazier's interest to admit that Norton kicked Ali's ass twice. As for Louis, he was probably hoping Ali would kick a little cash his way, you know he needed it.

 

Yes, 9-6 for Norton is a good card. I'm surprised that Norton's dominating performance over Ali in the first fight doesn't boost his legacy more.

 

As an out and out Ali fan,Muhammad was indeed lucky in getting the verdict,in my mind. I score it 9 - 6 to Norton,but it was hardly a robbery ! Plenty of the rounds were close.

 

It was 'one of those fights' where you throw out the scorecards.

Get the officials together, and vote for most dominant participant in the bout.

That was clearly Kenny Norton, as he was the one who made the fight, and
had moved forward thoughout the whole fight.

 

Ali won this fight because of who he was...
...one of the NY papers said..."If Ali won that fight last...then the Japanese won World
War II"...

 

Nice one Solomon. Ali haters ignore this and the fact that one of the most respected refs was the ref for the fight and he scored it 8-6-1 for Ali. Like I said I was there and scored it very close...real tough fight to score.

 

As close as it was,I still don't see any controversy about the score for the SECOND Ali-Norton bout. Every time I view it,I see Muhammad winning by at least one point.

 

It was a panel of many experts not just Frazier and Louis.

 

Norton won that fight plain and simple Anybody who says otherwise must also feel like Chavez drew against Whitaker and Ramirez beat Whitaker...

 

People just keep on repeating the myths surrounding this fight. Here's Ed Schuyler's report for the Associated Press, which gives it to Ali 9 rounds to 6.

Other writers saw it differently of course, and you can watch it on video and make a scorecard of your own. But the claim that no one but a handful of deluded Ali fans saw it as anything but a clear and comprehensive win for Norton is simply, demonstrably untrue.

Had it 'big' for Ken Norton, and they were right at ringside.

Dick Young, 'Ali threw punches like a teenage kid in a schoolyard fight. This was
supposed to be a Heavyweight Championship fight, not some Flyweight swatting
punches at the air. Muhammad Ali should just go home, and leave the fighting to
real men. He's finished.'

 

The problem with these accounts is that they have nothing to do with reality. Ali didn't control ****. Norton bossed the fight, bullied Ali and beat him from pillar to post. That's what happened. Norton even clowned Ali at times. Ali was not effective off the ropes, where he gave away rounds and took a beating. He was not effective dancing either, the jab was not landing.

 

Young and Smith were so well known Ali haters. Tell everyone why you did not point this out as fact? Slightly biased?

 

Rusak....I was there were you? One of the most difficult hwt fights to score I have ever seen.
