Thinking of other 140 lbers of that time, do you guys think Ricky Hatton, maybe not 2002 version but maybe 2005 prime Hatton walks through either version of Gatti or Ward from these fights OR prime? I get there are levels; Gatti was world champ at a point and Ward an overachiever. Hatton was undisputed for years at 140. What say you about Hatton and these two?
Ya I think a prime Hatton would deal with them rather handily. Levels. Would be fun and interesting to see though.
I’m in agreement, Hatton wins these fights. They would be barn burner’s in the process, but Hatton is a much more skilled than these two fellas. I mean Hatton was able to beat Kostya Tszyu, Ward and Gatti just weren’t at that level.
Gatti's boxing style would've made it interesting but if Ward can close in on him, Hatton would def have the speed to get in there and bust him up badly
They're interesting fights because Hatton is one of those "never loses below a certain level" type guys but Gatti and Ward are very capable of upsets.
Not sure Hatton destroys them but he would beat both IMO. Hatton did use defense where these two just went all out and threw caution outside the ring for 3 fantastic fights
He won the IBF and WBA at 140 and never defended them. One bout. Quite far away from being undisputed for years at 140. I'm not sure where you got that.
I think Hatton would run Gatti over, but I think his win over Ward would kinda look like his win over Ben Tackie, he'd win, but it would just be a workman like performance.
Gatti lost to the likes of Robinson x2, Manfredy. As much as i love Gatti as a fighter and Ward aswell. Hatton was just at a higher level than both fighters. And IMO would win pretty handily against both, although I still think they would be very exciting fights.
I never understood how Nue Beffa got that nickname... supposedly mispronunciation by Portuguese immigrants, but how? Bedford isn't difficult to pronounce.
It's more of a general impression of how Portuguese sounds than a specific way of mispronouncing New Bedford.
