Just watched calzaghe v hopkins again..

No way Hopkins won that, he won 4 rounds IMO and 5 at best. The fight was close because the ref let Hopkins hold everytime he wanted to.
I bet he called Hatton the night before the fight to get some advice.

 

Calzaghe would have always beaten Hopkins in their primes, a close fight but a clear win for Calzaghe.
Jones on the other hand would have beaten Calzaghe.

 

well thats you opinion. at then end the day its all opinions. but you saw the problems hopkins was giving calzaghe in the early stages. prime hop probably keeps that up and wins a decision. you gotta underdstand, once upon a time, hopkins actually threw combinations. but again, you can have your own opinion.

 

Wasn't even close. Calzaghe won hands down. Hopkins never took the risks necessary.

It wasn't a great fight by any stretch of the imagination, but there have been worse.

I can't remember how I scored it but I can remember me thinking a close but clear victory to Calzaghe. I dunno if I can be arsed to re-score it. A close fight anyway. A fight in which both men cancelled each other out to the point of them both looking bad.

 

You have my respect and my deepest sympathy.

 

I remember I had Joe winning easy, but does anybody have a link of the fight? I would like to watch it again.

 

Cheers for the psychological insight person-I-don't-know, but you are (unsurprisingly) wrong.

The reason I find it boring is that the pro-Calzaghe views are never going to convince the pro-Hopkins views, and vice-versa, so it's a futile argument. Also, it happened ****ing ages ago, and Joe C has even retired since - it's a dead end. There are plenty fresh and interesting things to talk about in boxing rather than this fossil of a debate.

 

Hopkins lost.

After all the **** talking he did, he should have been banned from professional boxing for giving us that stinker. What a ****ing disappointment. He coulda at least stuck his chin out and given us what we all wanted.

 

I think people over hype how 'bad' this fight was.
