Just watched Chuvalo-Quarry... B.S. Stoppage?

Clayton was criticized a little bit. Because Quarry's knee was supposedly off the canvas at the count of ten as he was getting up. I think it was kind of bull**** but can see both sides of it as Quarry waited until the last second to get up. I think it was one of those 1 in a million things because 99 times out of 100 Id favor Quarry (he was really kicking the **** out of Chuvalo) but this was that 1 time...

 

i've heard so much about the stoppage on this fight,i guess if quarry could,t tell the difference between 9 or 10 chuvalo did catch him with a pretty good shot and he was shock up.true quarry was landing well on george but chuvalo had landed a few hard shots on jerry as well.chuvalo wasn't getting the **** knocked out of him as mentioned in a thread earlier on here.i saw the fight too after 6 rounds it was 4 rounds for quarry and 2 rounds for chuvalo

 

Chuvalo hung in there, landed a big punch and Quarry miscalculated the count. It happens.

The correct answer of course is 1 out of 1 to Chuvalo.

I can't tell if Quarry was up at '10' or not. Clayton was also accused of a quick count in Zaire. One thing is for sure, Quarry must have regretted following the old wisdom of taking a count to recuperate.

1 thing is for sure,chuvalo is the only fighter to put quarry on the canvas for the count of 10.its no fault of chuvalo's if quarry misses the count like so many say.myself i think he may have got his brain rattled and for a few secs. wasn't totally with it from the left hook

 

i haven't seen the match in it's entirety but i have seen the stoppage. could go either way: clearly quarry was able to continue but just as clearly, he wasn't "up" at the count of 10

 

Clearly our Canadian friend is a bit biased in regards to his countryman as Chuvalos face was grotesquely swollen from the pounding he was recieving and Quarry was up 4-1-1, 4-1-1, and 3-3. If I had to guess, based on the way he handled the stoppage, Id guess 3-3 was the vote of Clayton. We should also not forget that Clayton was known to do business on occasion with the highest bidder which is why Futch absolutely refused to let him referee in Manila.

Just watched the whole fight myself, very good counter punching by Quarry and I really think he just got caught in that round and thought he beat the count

there's a doc on youtube about quarry and they mention how quarry thought he beat tr count

 

Im not the one trying to say Quarry wasnt kicking the **** out of Chuvalo when if youve seen the fight and arent biased you would admit that Chuvalo was eating punches like they were pastries and his face was ****ing nasty looking by the end.

 

chuvalo always ate his opponents best shots,a round or 2 before the stoppage chuvalo had quarry on the ropes and hurt him.how can you say i'm biased 1 judge had it 3 to 3 after the 6 round.
every body sees fights differently even the judges at ringside,quarry was also getting roughed up in the process,i read somewhere later years after the fight jerry admitted he got hit with a pretty good shot
