Just watched Gassiev - Wlodarczyk; was the KO legit?

Looked pretty real. Gassiev hits incredibly hard. That's actually the same shot he dropped Lebedev with only Lebedev was tough enough to continue onward. He likes to do that lead uppercut --> left hook to the body combination.

 

Looked perfectly normal to me. Perhaps Wlod could have made it up to continue, but he was unlikely to enjoy getting sent back to the canvas again.

No conspiracy here, Gassiev was always going to beat Wlod, why would anyone pay Wlod to lose? He was already lucky that the WBC got him in the tournament to get a good payday.

Now if you are looking for true dives, may I recommend Scuba Scott?

Body shots in the right place are devastating. Hopkins-DLH,GGG-Macklin,Tszyu-Hurtado etc. Unless Wlod is broke again doubt it was a dive. Actually I think some people at the time thought Oscar took a dive against Hopkins.

Cannot believe what I’m reading,my first impressions was of how good Gassiev technique is when throwing that combo,just perfectly timed,crisp body shot aimed right where you don’t want it.
Not one to blow my own trumpet but I was buzzing to hear Montero say the exact same thing about Gassiev technique on that body shot and that how it’s a hallmark of Abel Sanchez training in that his fighters always have good balance and technique from hours in the gym and muscle memory.

 

That De La Hoya one against BHop looked very suspect esp given what transpired with GB

 

Yeah you would never know though. I hope not ol fishnets was my fave boxer back then. Wlod was paid 400k he may of bet on himself knowing he wouldn't win anyway we will never know.
