They interviewed both Hatton and Cotto afterwards and neither could think what to say. Was obvious both were awestruck.

Around that time Mayweather is undoubtedly the best fighter of my lifetime.

What? First of all, Mayweather did have decent power at that weight. It is also much more dangerous to take a serious beating like that over several rounds than just getting KO'ed by one punch.

 

Did you happen to catch Gatti's fight with Oscar before that ? it was just as bad

Always heard Ali beat and carried Terrell for perceived slights leading into their fights. This was the mean side of Ali.

This Gatti beating, and that is certainly the right word, was one of the worst I saw and particular hard to watch because I was such a big Gatti fan.

 

Absolutely, I just think the beating the Bradley took (as an example) in his fight with Provodnikov completely trumps that fight. We could sit here and reel off dozens of worse beatings.

 

That beating was massive.

That would have ended the careers of almost every other man.

Don't know about that fight but of course there might be some worse beatdowns. Anyway i think what makes this beatdown so brutal is that May-Gatti was so one-sided and Gatti had no answer at all to May's speed and skill.
