the card were very close at the point Tszyu quit. Hatton for away with an amazing amount of illegal tactics in that fight, plus he got knocked down by a body shot but he ref called it low. Then Hatton's sickening and interntional low blow knocked the stuffing out of Tszyu. I was there and the whole thing was a sham. Neutral venue and Tszyu wins, eben though he was past it.
This is a very balanced post. I watched the fight at the MEN and was caught up in the spectacle but I can now look back without bias and say Dave Parris did a shocking job of reffing the fight but that wasnt the reason Hatton won. However, the dodgy referring taints the otherwise impressive win.
I cannot believe the crap I am reading in this thread. Neutral ground would have made little difference to the outcome of the fight, and it's sour grapes to suggest otherwise. Ricky did land a deliberate low blow, but only in retaliation to Tszyu's deliberate foul. I will admit Hatton can get a bit rough, but remember this is a combat sport, not a vicar's tea party. If we were to take action against every fighter who uses tactics we didn't approve of, then that wouldn't leave us with many of the top guys now would it? As for Tszyu being past it, utter bollocks. There was not any talk of this when he beat Mitchell. He was highly fancied to beat Hatton, even the British press were saying Hatton would be doing well to last just six rounds. Hating Ricky Hatton seems to be very fashionable at the moment, but I have noticed, as with any pointless hate campaign, there's no substance to it. All we ever get, (same as with the Lennox Lewis haters) is a load of "Yeah, but", "what if?" and a whole load of other weak arsed unobjective drivel.
Spot on!!! Only a couple of things to add. Tszyu for the first time in his professional career didn't make the weight at the first weigh in. He had to go away and sweat out more, which must have taken a lot out of him, prime or not. And while he may have only had 32 professional bouts, he had 300 odd amateur bouts. He wasn't that fresh. All said though, Tszyu deserved to lose for allowing Warren the right to assign such a biased referee! He should have known better with all his experience. He had already given away the home ground advantage for his five million pound purse! He should have retained the right to choose a neutral ref!!
That shot was right on the middle of the elastic, legal shot! It was a legitimate knock down from a body shot!! If Tszyu had been given credit for it, and/or Hatton had a point deducted for the most blatant low blow I've ever seen in boxing as he should have been, I bet Tszyu would have come out for the last round and if he survived should have been given the decision.
What deliberate Tszyu foul? You mean the legit body shot that landed right in the middle of Hatton's belt and sent him to the canvas? Pull your head out of Hatton's arse and maybe the light of day will help you see through all that bull **** that is covering your face!!!
You must have been watching from the moon if you thought Hatton kicked Tszyu's arse. There was nothing in that fight and if Tszyu had been awarded the knock down he legitmately scored on Hatton and/or Hatton had the point he should have had deducted for his deliberate low blow Tszyu would have come out of the last round for sure and would have been in front on the cards, even given the MEN location. But yeah, you're right about one thing, Hatton wore down Tszyu. He wore him down through illegal clinching for round after round with the assistance of the ref Warren had tucked in his back pocket all on top of Tszyu struggling to make weight for the first time in his career which had to have sapped him!!
Hatton hugged Tszyu into submission....and Tszyu DROPPED Hatton with a perfect left hook to the stomach, and it was called a low-blow...the ref ****ed Tszyu, that shot landed right above the belt-line....Tszyu would've finished Hatton shortly after....
don't get it twisted idiot. First of all, if you were smarter than a cardboard box you'd know Montreal is in Canada, not the US. Secondly, PBF has nothing to do with the way I saw Hatton vs Tszyu
