On my first watch through I had Hopkins winning, but I just re-watched round by round and I got it a 113-113 draw. The first knockdown was controversial, but not outrageous, made it 10-8 round, Pascal clearly took the 2nd, and I had the 3rd 10-8 Pascal (Hopkins landed more shots, but Pascal landed the big ones and I think was shading it even before the knockdown). I then gave Pascal the 5th and 8th (not, on reviewing, the 10th which I initially thought was close). Hopkins took the rest... 12th was closeish but I gave it to Hopkins. There is nothing shocking about the draw (indeed, obviously, I think it was right). Shaeffer mouthing off is doeing no-one any favours... I generally have a lot of time for GBP but its so unhelpful threatening to take everyone to court. That said... I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch.. given the way BHop worked Pascal out after the first few rounds it would be fascinating to see how the two handle each other given another go around. My gut is Pascal would do it more convincingly next time.
Well if Pascal won 4 rounds, 2 of which were scored 10-8, then that would have resulted in a draw, (assuming of course that you didn't score any other 10-8 rounds.)
Does anyone know if Hopkins won the 12th round on all cards? From my POV, Hopkins was a little careless in the 12th and allowed that bum to land some shots and win the round.
The truth is Hopkins did fight good against Pascal. It's just the knockdowns that made it so close. I find the knockdown system in boxing rigged. One KD giving automatically a 10-8 isn't good. If the KD fighter wins the entire round than gets a flash KD and gets 8 because of the KD. That system is rigged. The first round KD wasn't really a KD, because it was in the back of the head. Hopkins would have had 10-9 if not for the KD and would comfortably win a decision. I would have had 117-110 for Hopkins if the first KD wasn't ruled a KD. Having ruled the first KD, I have 115-111 for Hopkins.
I just did. Hopkins won the first minute with a couple of good body shots. But the rest of the round it was all Pascal who hit him good clean power shots. Hopkins tried to steal the round but again Pascal won clearly the last exchange. Round 5 = Pascal. Sorry for you my friend.
Being the aggressor doesnt mean you wont he fight, affective aggression wins fights, Hopkins was effective in spots but was inconsistant through out, and got dropped twice. and was also dropped legit....
He should have won the Calslappy fight also but that's for another thread. It wasn't a robbery but the only correct scorecard was the 114-112 card. Maybe only American judges know their ****?
I scored it for Hopkins. The fact that you scored the fight for Pascal when even the official judges didn't it suggests that maybe you're the one who's off. Scoring is subjective but c'mon; Hopkins controlled that round.
I'm watching round 4. the first minute and a half: Zero punches from Pascal landed (one behind the head holding and hitting). 4 thunderous and painful looking body blows from Hopkins. Three leaping lefts to the liver a and a hard right. Will now watch the second half of round 4.
