Yeah, tbh I treat the commentary as comedy - at least UK commentary, its horrific half the time. I was so impressed with AJ's movement improvements.... he got a lot more flat footed after Ruiz clipped him a few times but he did recover again this time. His chin, while not GREAT definitely held up enough to get him through some rough times. Ruiz never really seriously rattled Parker despite arguably getting through more so it's all relative. Basically he was never on his ass, kept defensively aware and completely shut out a top ten guy - I was MUCH more impressed with this performance than Wilder's performance against Ortiz, and it's hard not to disagree with him being the #1 right at the minute.
I feel like Ruiz trained for a third fight. Let's hope if AJ gives it to him, hopefully much further down the road, that Ruiz takes training camp more seriously. I dunno, maybe switch gyms to one with jump ropes and not all-you-can-eat buffets.
He got beat from pillar to post 5 months before so there were going to be some mental demons. I don’t think AJ has a bad chin but certainly doesn’t have a great one either. He did the right thing it was a good performance, getting the win was the main thing here.
Hearn looked like he won the lottery when the fight was over. Had the type of smile that hurts your face lol
He is damn good but I would love to see Fury vs AJ That would be interesting to see how he does vs a pure boxer.
AJ, just like WK, doesn’t have problems with his chin really. They both just panic when tagged. Nobody likes being hit but both of them act like theres a bullet coming their way. WK would throw both his hand out and launch himself backwards, AJ just looks like he sees a ghost in front of him and acts timid. Can’t train the flight or fight response I guess.
Happens to a lot of fighters. Nothing matches that buzz, coke brings you as close to it as something could.
