Ok boxing politics really gets to me. Guzman was taking it all night long. Soto landed alot of clean power shots, and Guzman didn't stagger Soto with any punch through the whole dam fight. Soto on the other hand had Guzman staggered several times through the fight. What is Guzman's reaction? He showboats a bit while running away (which is standard for those type of fighters) or resets his feet and stands still cause he's still dizzy. Bottom line, Soto was crushing Guzman's body and had him hurting, Guzman got a gift in a ridiculous UD. Lederman scored it right through the first rounds, Merchant always has some agenda to either downplay a good fighter or hype a bad fighter. But Mr. Lewis come on.... Another thing that bothers me is this CompuBox stuff. Must be some ****** behind a screen randomly hitting buttons. Soto landed more, and more often, look at that beautiful bodywork. Guzman was given a gift.
You must have been watching a different fight. Guzman gave Soto a boxing lesson. The classic boxer schooling the pressure fighter kinda fight. Matador taming the bull kinda fight.. It was the least impressive performance I've seen from Soto in years, but that's mainly due to Guzman's great movement and defensive awareness, and his ability to neutralize all of Soto's strengths. Soto landed some body shots but that's all he landed and surely didn't land enough to win even 4 rounds in this fight.
Agreed but his performance was crap! He won by basically running the whole time. He never tried to put anything on his punches, he just tried to use his speed and quickness to score points and take as little risk as possible. Yea....he won, but he lost a lot of respect from many fans with that performance. It also showed he was not anywhere near the fighter that most were trying to make him out to be. Some were saying he was the next Floyd Jr.:-(
I must say i thought it was an entertaining fight, it really made me impressed of Guzman, that he could do that to soto. Reminded me of floyd.
Well everyone that was commentating was saying Guzman this and Guzman that, and I didn't see him land anything that hurt Soto. All I saw was Guzman's face jerking back and forth from shots and Guzman covering up his body. Compubox definately wasn't counting the body shots which Soto landed cause it said he was getting outscored 2 to 1 which was the reverse of what i saw. It looked like they were counting every shot Guzman threw, vs all the power shots Soto landed on Guzman's face. If you call that a schooling, then you clearly are getting used to watching Calzaghe slap people on the arm. Guzman didn't land diddly, and Guzman's legs were goofy for half the fight. Don't buy into the showboating and running around as boxing lesson. When I think of boxing lesson I think of Vitali v. Peter.
The same reason why Manny and Arum have been ignoring Guzman because of that fight. Guzman would of gave him a boxing lesson.
