Can't rewatch it, too sickening to relive the orchestrated ''validation'' of the New Britain idol and corporate brand. Wlad would likely have lost on the cards no matter what, and those ''Doctor'' brothers should have been smart enough to work that out, making it even more absurd that Wlad didn't go for the finish when the opportunity arrived. But the positive thing is that although Wlad lost the fight, he gained something far more valuable that fateful night in London. That was the night Wlad fell madly in love with AJ. Before then he liked AJ from afar. But after this fight, Wlad went all in. The private messages started, the phone-calls from the bathtub, and whenever Wlad was in town, the long, vigorous embraces that seemed like they would never end, yet were always over too soon. Vitali would never say anything, secretly he agreed with Fury about many things. He tried to ward Wlad back to Hollywood harlots but the little brother was determined to explore his new obsession: Anthony J. And to this day Wlad continues to invest in dream ... first opponents, then friends, then training partners, then Austrian hot tub ... then ....? #NeverKODreams
I think an argument can be made for 2-2 & then Wlad had him punch drunk & out in his feet for the next two rounds (5 & 6) in a row.. interesting too that the 41 year old was completely out manoeuvring him for large parts & had the better movement.. but he held off too much though & didn't capitalise .. he's a great finisher Wlad but he lacked a bit of killer instinct at times.. Joshua was out on his feet for large parts of that fight & Wlad was still looking to pick his shots.. Joshua got his second win somewhat later on, bit down & by that time Wlad had blown his wad.. I bet Klitschko still kicks himself a bit about it.. might that nights Joshua have been the best Joshua we'll see?! I think current Joshua looks fairly gun shy & a nervy fighter.. he's had a few heavy KDs now too..
Huge Wlad fan but I agree actually, the best buddies thing annoys me.. & I may be wrong but I read somewhere that vitali was actually the one who yelled at Wlad to hold off & not rush it when he pretty much had him..
It was so funny when he thought he could get away with that outside of the UK. His team obviously pumped him up too much behind the scenes.
What about the pathetic quit job then? Good "old school trick" is it. Or is that the pretend "nooooo ref, what you doing?" Joshua refused to come forward and quit. END OF.
He actually did come forward and then the ref pushed him back a bit to assess his situation. AJ thought he was gonna pop his mouth guard back in and then the ref just called it. You can clearly see AJ stepped forward originally.
He quit. He went back and stood on the ropes for an eternity just waiting there and then gave it the whole fake "woah, what you doing ref".
This, compare Wlad's left hook from AJ fight to the one he threw vs Chambers in the 12th! Wlad was clearly ancient and falling apart. Even vs Pulev he was sloppy and passed it already.
Wlad post 40 fighting off of pure instincts alone took a prime steroided Joshua to the absolute brink. I was impressed with wlad that night
Interesting that Joshua was able to step forward with his back turned and the ref shouting hey you can't do that
AJ's boxing early was as good as I've ever seen it even though it was close at times and his second wind to stop Wlad was stupendous & Wlad's inability to finish AJ was hilarious and terrible. Missing left hooks and trying to clinch/push AJ to the canvas. Dirty WLAD. That being said Fury takes AJ to absolute pound town. It's not a fair fight.
