Ishida had a really high AM KO ratio, with big gloves. He fought under his natural weight for too much of his pro career I think. He is not a naturally feather fisted guy, and has good accuracy. He also has stones... hes the worst style for someone like Kirkland.

A guy who isnt afraid of him, and can land quick hard shots right on his chin.

    Canelo via KO as well

Ishida is also durable, and Golovkin knocked him out with one punch.

Amazing that to fight as a Heavyweight Ishida is needing to spend the start of every camp bulking up. Fun to watch him grow every time as his weight drops massively between fights

Kirkland is a Glass Jawed fighter. He has no Chin. None.

these fools all iknow the deal, but they don't want to be honest about it...everybody knows kirkland was having managerial problems, personal issues around the fight. that's why he got ko'd in the first round. it had nothing to do with the harmless ishida....it was all kirkland's mental state.

krikland went to war with punchers like joel julio and perro angulo and took their best and came back and ko'd them....ishida is not even in the same class as those guys in terms of punching power.

it was about kirklands mental state more than anything else.

Kirkland has always been susceptible in round 1, he comes in dry with a weak warm up and has been down in several fights in the opening round and hurt in others

Vs Ishida he seemed to lose his legs and didn't recover, I don't think he was "hurt" just lost his legs and if given a full minute to recover probably would have

This is why I think a Canelo first round tko is extremely possible but if Kirkland gets through round 1 ok and lands a little it can become a long night for Alvarez

Too bad Canelo can't fight for three minutes every round like Kirkland can.

Kirkland opens up to much especially when he's losing or in a battle. Against a counter puncher or as we saw with Ishida, a short range puncher, he's easy to take out.
He never saw those short range shots and never fully recovered from that first knockdown. I do think he will do better against Canelo before he gets stopped, because Canelo is there to be hit also. But I think him underestimating Ishida plus all those fight strung so close together after his release really hurt his training.

I would like to have seen Kirkland trained by a freddy roach caliber coach because his built, power and frame had the potential to be strong through about 3-4 divisions.

He was severely weight drained even at middleweight. The man is 6'3 if i remember correctly! A slenderman...
